Victor Benjamin has made his mark in both MMA and professional wrestling. Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 220 pounds, “The Savage Gentleman” is set to step into the ring at this weekend’s Bruno Forever show, an event honoring wrestling legend Bruno Sammartino. A Pittsburgh native, Benjamin understands the impact of Sammartino’s legacy and is eager to pay tribute
“Bruno was THE guy in Pittsburgh. Everyone knew him. He wasn’t just a champion; he was a symbol of greatness,” Benjamin said in an interview with SlamWrestling.net. “To wrestle on a show honoring him is huge. This is my way of showing respect—to him, his family, and everything he did for wrestling.”
Originally an MMA fighter, Benjamin transitioned to professional wrestling in 2016, finding the switch to be a natural progression. “I’ve always been a national-level athlete. The skills I developed in combat sports transferred over seamlessly. The intensity, the physicality—it’s all there in wrestling. I didn’t have to change who I was, just adapt how I competed.”
At Bruno Forever, Benjamin is set to face Chance Prophet, a two-time NWA National Heavyweight Champion, in what promises to be a hard-hitting encounter. “We’ve never wrestled before, but we know each other’s game. This is going to be a fight, and that’s exactly what I want. A straight-up, one-on-one classic — brunthat’s my kind of match.”
The event will also feature a Battle Royal for the WWWF Championship, a title famously held by Sammartino. Benjamin hinted at potential involvement. “That title is a piece of wrestling history. Bruno held it with pride. Every wrestler in that ring wants their name attached to that legacy. I’ll just say this—my waist is ready for that belt.”
With names like Corey Graves, Sam Adonis, Ray Lyn, and Stan Hansen on the card, the event promises to be special. Benjamin is confident of an unmissable night for fans. “It’s going to be unforgettable. This isn’t just another show; it’s about honoring a legend. Expect hard-hitting matches, big moments, and a few surprises. If you want to witness it live, get your tickets on Eventbrite.”
For Benjamin, paying tribute to Sammartino means remembering and respecting the past. “You can’t forget the ones who paved the way. Wrestling has changed, but the foundation remains the same. Bruno sold out Madison Square Garden before we had the tools we do now. He built this business. If you want to honor him, go back and watch his matches. Learn from what he did.”
Coming off a second-round knockout victory in professional boxing just two weeks ago, Benjamin is carrying that momentum into this weekend.
Benjamin is focused on making an impact at Bruno Forever and beyond. “This is just the beginning. I have unfinished business in both wrestling and boxing, and I’m looking to dominate in both worlds. Bruno Forever is about honoring the past, but I’m also here to make my own mark on the future.” With his eyes set on victory, Benjamin is ready to step into the ring and prove why he belongs among the best.
Bruno Forever takes place this Saturday. Don’t miss it.
