Night Two of the New Japan Cup featured a match between two bulls: Bad Luck Fale and Boltin Oleg.

Fale’s beard is completely grey. Interesting that. Oleg tries to shoulder tackle Fale but that is like trying to break through a brick wall. Oleg finally knocks Fale through the ropes and to the floor. Fale pulls Oleg to the floor whipping him into the ringside barricade. Fale shoulder tackles Oleg into the barricade which shifts back about five feet into the announce table knocking monitors and such off the table. Oleg and Fale trade haymakers. Fale rides Oleg like a surfboard. Oleg tries to slam Fale. He cannot lift him.

After Fale misses an elbow drop Oleg does slam him and splashes him off the ropes for a two count. Fale battles back with a Samoan Drop and an elbow drop for 2 and a half. Oleg picks up Fale again pinning him with a Kamakazi.

The New Japan Cup is NJPW’s annual single-elimination tournament. The winner is rewarded with an IWGP World Heavyweight Championship match.

Toru Yano and Yoshi-Hashi versus Daiki Nagai and Katsuya Murashima

Hashi wins the match for his team with a butterfly lock submission.

Winners: Toru Yano and Yoshi-Hashi

Taka Michinoku and Yuya Uemura versus Chase Owens and Sanada

Owens wins the match with a C-Trigger on Taka.

Winners: Chase Owens and Sanada

TMDK (Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr.) versus The United Empire (Jakob Austin Young, Jeff Cobb and TJP)

Oiwa pins Young with The Grip.

Winners: Hartley Jackson, Ryohei Oiwa, Zack Sabre Jr.

Bullet Club War Dogs (Gedo, David Finlay, Gabe Kidd) versus House of Torture (Yoshinobu Kanemaru, Yujiro Takahashi and Ren Narita)

Kanemaru takes a swig of his whiskey. Gedo clamps his mouth shut so he cannot spit it in Finlay’s face. Finlay punches him in the stomach so the whiskey spurts out. Running clothesline, Overkill and Finlay scores the pinfall.

Winners: Bullet Club War Dogs (Gedo, David Finlay, Gabe Kidd)

LIJ (Bushi, Shingo Takagi and Yota Tsuji) versus House of Torture (Dick Togo, Sho and Evil)

House of Torture shenanigans allows Evil to put Bushi in the Scorpion Death Lock.

Winners: House of Torture (Dick Togo, Sho and Evil)

Boltin Oleg Versus Bad Luck Fale – New Japan CupĀ

El Phantasmo versus The Great-O-Khan – New Japan CupĀ 

On his way to the ring, Phantasmo places his title belt on the shoulders of a little girl in the audience. Awwwww. Lots of mat wrestling to kick things off. Khan just cannot track ELP until he catches him midair and gives him a backbreaker over his knee. ELP does a moonsault off the top rope to the floor but Khan avoids it. Khan gives ELP a Tombstone Piledriver on the floor. Reverse STO and an Eliminator pins ELP.

Winner: The Great-O-Khan

Tomohiro Ishii versus Drilla Maloney – New Japan Cup

Things break down into a slap fight. Maloney gives Ishii a flying knee strike and a Drilla Killa to move on in the tournament.

Winner: Drilla Maloney

Tetsuya Naito versus Callum Newman – New Japan Cup

Newman misses a cutter off the ropes. Naito rolls him up for the pin.

Winner: Tetsuya Naito

Hiroshi Tanahashi and Hirooki Goto versus Satoshi Kojima and Yuji Nagata

A short 18 minute match in which Goto pins Kojima with a GTR. Nagata had words with Goto after the match. Nagata challenges Goto for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship on March 15th.
