NXT: The prodigy meets her role model

Greetings and salutations! Over the last week we have seen major changes in the landscape of NXT. We have new Men’s and Women’s Champions. This week on the show we see the will they split, won’t they split Tag Team Champion duo of Fraxiom taking on OTM for the titles. We will hear from former NXT Women’s Champion Roxanne Perez as she tells us what’s next on her journey. We will also hear from the new NXT Champion as Oba Femi speaks. Also announced on the show is Stephanie Vaquer taking Shotzi for a shot at the Women’s North American Championship. With all of this and more, let’s get to the action!


Oba Femi addresses the crowd


The new NXT Champion kicks off the show and Oba Femi says that destiny always arrives, just like him. Femi says that he was backed by destiny since day one. Femi puts over Trick Williams, but while doing so says that just like everyone else on the roster, they have a ceiling. Femi then claims to have no ceiling. Femi then turns his attention to Eddy Thorpe, and calls him a snake.

NXT North American Champion Tony D’Angelo comes out and reminds everyone that he’s the only person to beat Oba Femi in a match. D’Angelo then said that one day he will go for the NXT Championship and he will be a double champ. Femi joked that D’Angelo was beat up by Santa Claus. Femi then says that D’Angelo should focus on the North American Championship.

Ridge Holland walks out on the stage and says he has a gift for D’Angelo. The gift is a photo of Holland attacking D’Angelo dressed as Santa Claus. D’Angleo is livid and attacks Holland. Thorpe hops the barricade and attacks Femi from behind to get things started real hot on NXT.


Backstage, Ethan Page was talking to Dante Chen gloating how he interacted with The Rock. Chen says that he and others in the locker room are still mad at Page for what he did to Je’Von Evans and wants a match with him.


NXT Women’s North American Championship Number One Contender’s Match: Stephanie Vaquer vs. Shotzi


Vaquer and Shotzi have a 50/50 match as they trade pin attempts. Vaquer  lands a hold on Shotzi, but Shotzi counters into a bow and arrow. Vaquer escapes, but Shotzi with a hard right hook an follows that up with a kick to the head. Shotzi then gets Vaquer in a over the rope hanging choke, then follows that up with a Crossbody off the top for a near fall. Vaquee falls to the corner and Shotzi goes for the attack, but Vaquer stops counters it into a Dragon screw. This sets up the Vaquer body lock/head smash move.

After the break, Shotzi hits a Hurricanrana from the top rope. Shotzi continues her attack with a running Knee strike. Vaquer with eat d’feat. Vaquer is pushed back into the corner and Shotzi lands a huge Cannonball. Vaquer then hits a running double knee on Shotzi and went for the pin, but Shotzi kicks out. Jacy Jayne runs down to ringside and jumps on the apron and ends smashing Vaquer with the championship. Shotzi doesn’t see it, but rolls up Vaquer for the win.

Winner: Shotzi


Backstage, we see Zaria telling Kelani Jordan to use her losses as motivation. Cora Jade talks smack to Kelani Jordan and ends up smacking Cora Jade.

Oba Femi went to Ava’s office and said he wants a match with Eddy Thorpe. Ava wasn’t sure about this as she doesn’t want to reward “bad behavior”. Mr. Stone interjected, and told Femi that he’s being played. This made Femi angry and he picked Stone up and reiterated that since he’s the NXT champion, if he wants a match, he gets it. Ava agrees to the match.


Ethan Page vs. Dante Chen


Page attacks Chen before the bell even rings. Page continues to attack Chen once the match starts. Chen gets a boot to the face of Page, but Page trips Chen into the bottom rope. Page hits a Twist of Fate for the win.

Winner: Ethan Page

After the match, Page continues to attack Chen and eventually slams the ring steps into Chen’s ankle. Je’Von Evans tries to make the save, but Page punches him on his broken jaw leaving him bleeding from the mouth as Page has a smug look.


Dion Lennox congratulated Oba Femi for winning the NXT Championship and said he would eventually challenge him for the title.

Shawn Spears was trying to convince Adriana Rizzo that Tony D’Angelo isn’t as committed to her as she is to “The Family”. Izzi Dame interrupted to say she nor Rizzo need Spears. Spears isn’t convinced.

Ashante “Thee” Adonis gave a rose to Karmen Petrovic and said he wants to be an official couple. Petrovic pulled him in for a kiss.

A video package aired putting over the new NXT women’s champion Giulia.

SmackDown Tag Team Champions #DIY are with Sarah Schreiber. ohnny Gargano and Tommaso Ciampa have been hearing so much about Axiom and Nathan Frazer being “the greatest tag team in NXT history” and they know that their paths are going to eventually cross, so since they’re 10 steps ahead, they asked Shawn Michaels for tickets to be able to watch them ringside tonight, but they promise not to cause any problems.


Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders Match: Meta-Four (Jakara Jackson & Lash Legend) vs The Unholy Union (Alba Fyre & Isla Dawn)


Fyre and Jackon go at it and Jackson with a rope walk hip toss on Fyre. Legend and Jackson double team Dawn. Fyre with a cheap shot as Dawn and Fyre take control of the match. Legend is able to get all of the momentum and clears the ring. Legend and Jackson almost have the win, but Dawn breaks it up and takes Jackson out with a Meteroa. Legend and Jackson hit their double team finisher on Fyre and get the upset win.

Winners: Meta-Four


Backstage, Lexis King is getting his nameplates on the NXT Heritage Cup as Ave watches on. Former champion Charlie Dempsey and Wren Sinclair show up and congratulate King, but they also think Dempsey needs a rematch. Ava agrees.

Ridge Holland and Tony D’Angelo are brawling in the most dangerous place in all of wrestling, the NXT parking lot.

Before the next match, we see TNA Knockouts Champion Masha Slamovich.


Kelani Jordan vs. Cora Jade


As the match starts, Jade gets in the face of Jordan, who responds with a Dropkick. Jade runs away. Jordan follows Jade and is able to hit her with a Back elbow. Back in the ring, Jordan hits Jade with a Crossbody. Jordan goes to the top rope, but Jade cuts Jordan off and tosses her off the top. Jade maintains control of the match, until Jade fires up and lands some wrist clutch stomps. Jade once again runs away and hides in the corner. Jordan goes to the corner and stomps her some more. As the referee pulls Jordan back, Jade rakes Jordan’s eyes and hits a Double arm DDT for the win.

Winner: Cora Jade


An Instagram video from Eddy Thorpe was shown. Thorpe admits that he goated Femi into a title match. Thorpe gives a shout out to Ava for making the title match happen. Thorpe says that he will be champion. Thorpe says that Oba Femi calls himself the ruler of NXT, but next week, he’s going to be overthrown. Thorpe is happy and ready to party.

Backstage, Josh Briggs and Yoshiki Inamura are chatting with Nathan Frazer and Axiom. Briggs asks for a title shot. OTM interrupted to say after tonight, Fraxiom won’t be champions, so they’re talking to the wrong people. Inamura misinterpreted, some of OTM’s promo and this kicks off a brawl.


NXT Tag Team Championship Match: Nathan Frazer & Axiom (Fraxiom) (c) vs OTM (Lucien Price & Bronco Nima)


#DIY is watching this match with tons of interest in Fraxiom. OTM take control of the match until after the break when  Nima and Price take control early until Frazer and Axiom fire up. Frazer with a Standing Shooting Star for a near fall. Frazer goes up top and misses a Big Splash. Nima with a huge Side Slam for a near fall of their own. Fraxiom come out strong again leading to an Axiom top rope Spanish fly followed by the Golden Ratio for the win.

Winner: Fraxiom


Backstage, Roxanne Perez is making her way to the ring. In the parking lot, someone arrives in a truck and walks into the arena.


The Prodigy addresses her future


Perez is out and says that no one expected her to have her second title run. She says that she held the title for over 200 days. Perez says that she put her heart and soul into NXT and that it is now the best women’s division in the world. Perez says without her this women’s division will be lost and that NXT doesn’t deserve her, and the people don’t deserve her. Perez says that the last great NXT generation needed the Four Horsewomen, this generation only needed her.

Bayley makes a surprise appearance and tries to talk sense to Perez, but Perez cuts her off and says she doesn’t need her advice anymore. Perez says Bayley is just like everyone she USED to look up to. Bayley tells Perez the division will be fine without her. Perez and Bayley get into a brawl as the show cuts off.
