Eric Bischoff is certainly making the rounds lately. He will be on NXT tonight and he will be headlining Eric Bischoff’s ONE-SHOT for MLW on December 5th.

He also stopped by The Ariel Helwani Show and in doing so gave his opinion on AEW.

“They are horrible, come on. I have given up. I used to get really frustrated with him (Tony Khan) because I HATE seeing people screw up good opportunities. I know what that feels like and I know how hard good opportunities are to come by. When you see somebody shooting themselves in the foot day after day, week after week, in every possible way it is frustrating for me and I would vent that frustration. Now, it is like…whatever. It is what it is. There is no hope for them. Nothing is going to turn that company around. There is no light bulb that’s going to go off in anyone’s head and all of a sudden they realize: THIS is how we get people to watch TV! They have no idea what they are doing and they are too stubborn to learn,” he said.

Helwani wanted to know if a storyline like the nWo could save the promotion who has seen its viewership and ticket sales continue to steadily drop since its inception.

“Not there. Because there is nobody there who knows how to tell a story. There is nobody there who actually knows what a story is. I use this analogy sometimes because it is easy to understand. Boy meets girl. Boy gets girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets girl back. That’s a story. It is not very compelling. Nobody cares but if Shakespeare gets a hold of it, it is a version of Romeo and Juliet,” he responded.

Bischoff continued to comment on AEW’s storytelling.

“Yes, you will hear the fanbase say there are stories and great stories. Dave Meltzer says the problem with AEW is there are so many stories people cannot keep up with them. I kid you not. He said that and people take him seriously and send him money every month. What the hell? The stories, if there are any, are so bad that only the lowest form of wrestling fan on the planet finds enjoyment in it. Now, you find some people, and I think this is cool, if you dislike the physical presentation of people flying all over the place and doing athletically amazing stuff and you don’t care about the stories and you don’t care about characters, that’s your jam. AEW is your jam and if that’s what you like more power to you, man. I am glad you found it. It is just not viable for the masses.”

Bischoff then took aim at Tony Khan himself.

“Tony’s vision for the company is to provide content for that percentage of the audience who only cares about high risk, high altitude, fast-paced action and not about story and not about the characters…Honestly, and not taking shots at them, I cannot watch it (AEW). I feel dumber by the minute as I watch that show..,He wants to be held up there with Paul Heyman, Vince McMahon and probably Eric Bischoff back in the nineties. He wants that recognition and validation. As long as that’s what’s driving Tony, validation for being the booker as opposed to the guy smart enough to find a good booker, it (AEW) will never change. I know too many people who work there. I know too much stuff. It is never, ever, going to change as long as Tony Khan is in charge,” he concluded.
