Bobby Lashley debuts in AEW

Bobby Lashley debuts in AEW

Greetings and salutations! It is Wednesday, and you know what that means?! This week on Dynamite we have The Young Bucks defending their titles against Private Party and if the Bucks retain, Private Party will be forced to split up. We also have Swerve Strickland taking on Shelton Benjamin, and after a year off due to injury we have Adam Cole taking on Buddy Matthews. With such a jam packed show, let’s get straight to the action.

The Death Rider is in the house

Jon Moxley and company are going through the most dangerous area in all of wrestling, the parking lot. Claudio Castagnoli says that AEW was built off the hands of Moxley. As Castagnoli continues to talk, Orange Cassidy cuts the feed as he makes his way to the ring.

Cassidy says that he is not a leader and it hurt him watching Chuck Taylor get attacked. He says that AEW has a young, hungry talent that will be the future of wrestling. Cassidy says that all of AEW is in danger right now and no one has an idea how dangerous Jon Moxley is. Cassidy says that he now knows what he needs to do and says that he needs to stop this by cutting the head off the snake that is Moxley. Cassidy says he will do it by himself to make sure no one gets hurt and then challenges Moxley for the AEW World Championship. Cassidy ends things by saying that he’s not hard to find and calls himself the next AEW World Champion.

Mercedes Moné and Kamille are walking backstage, and they are asked about Kamille’s match against Statlander. Moné says Statlander doesn’t hold a candle to Kamille.

Adam Cole VS Buddy Matthews

The match starts off with both men being even matched. Matthews sends Cole to the ringside, and he lands on his surgically repaired ankle.

Back in the ring, Matthews takes Cole to the ground and works the mat game on Cole. Matthews with a Suplex, but Cole can’t be held down as Cole hits him right back with a Neck-Breaker. Cole rallies and looks for a Panama Sunrise, But Matthews counters it and continues to focus his offense on Cole’s ankle. Matthews stomps on the ankle while it’s on the steel steps. Doctors check on Cole, and they start to help him to the back. Matthews mockingly tells Cole that he is running away and calls Cole fragile, and a bitch.

This gets under Cole and he comes back to the ring to finish things off. Cole and Matthews trade punches in the middle of the ring and as Cole starts kicking Matthews, his ankle gives in again and Matthews takes advantage as he hits him with a knee strike and a stomp.

Matthews makes fun of Cole again and hits a buckle bomb. Cole makes a comeback again and hits a Panama Sunrise on the floor, followed by a running knee for the win.

Winner: Adam Cole

After the match, Cole gets on the mic and says that Matthews reminded him of who the real Adam Cole is and shakes his hand. The lights go out, and when they come back on, Malakai Black is standing in the ring, shaking Cole’s hand.

Backstage, Christopher Daniels is with Private Party. Daniels gives Private Party some advice on their match later on with the Young Bucks. Isiaih Kassidy vows to win the titles tonight.

Adam Cole is in the trainer’s room, and he gives credit to Matthews again. Cole then sends a message to MJF and tries to justify this swamp of roles as he reminds us MJF is a snake first. Cole ends things by promising to get his hands on MJF at AEW Full Gear.

The Callis Family Talks

Kyle Fletcher and Don Callis are on the stage and Fletcher says he is there to call out Ospreay. Ospreay doesn’t come out, instead we have a returning Mark Davis, Fletcher’s tag team partner out.

Fletcher says that there is a spot on the Callis Family for him. Davis says that with Ospreay they had an Empire and now its all been destroyed. Fletcher says that there will come a day when he has to make a hard decision, and he has no issue cutting out problems.

“Hangman” Adam Page  is backstage and talks about Jay White. Page says that there is no such thing as redemption, just ins, loses, and consequences. Page says he knows White will target his injured leg, but White doesn’t know what he will do to him. Page says that he will just leave White behind.

Moxley is back…

AEW World Champion Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta, Claudio Castagnoli, and Marina Shafir come to the ring. Moxley says that one day, Orange Cassidy will understand. Moxley clears up that HE is the one that actually challenged Cassidy when he attacked Chuck Taylor. Moxley says that he doesn’t want Cassidy to  catch the disease that seemed to affect a lot of people in AEW, where people are happy just collecting paycheques. Moxley accepts Cassidy’s challenge and says he will fight him “in the valley”, and he had better be prepared to die.

The group turns on Wheeler Yuta, and Castagnoli wraps a chair around his neck. Cassidy runs in and tries to make the save, but he gets taken out. As the group beat down on Cassidy, the Dark Order is out to try to even things out. The Heels take out Dark Order and PAC wraps a chair around Cassidy’s neck. Darby Allin comes down from the rafters and takes the fight to Castagnoli. The locer room is out including Private Party and The Bucks.

Back in the ring, The Young Bucks double-team Quen. At ringside, Matthew slams Kassidy into the steel steps. The Young Bucks control the match until Kassidy gets the hot tag and clears house. The Young Bucks end the comeback and drag Quen to the stage.

Kazuchika Okada is out and Tombstones Quen on the stage. The Young Bucks hit Kassidy with a cutter, followed by a Superkick for a 2-count. Kassidy counters the EVP Trigger with a roll-up for a 2-count of his own. The Bucks get the EVP trigger and Matthew hits a V-Trigger and a One-Winged Angel, but Quen breaks up the pin.
