Miro has officially asked for his release from AEW.

The news comes as no surprise as the wrestler formerly known as Rusev has had a rocky relationship with the company.

Miro joined AEW in 2020 to much fanfare but that fizzled out quite soon due to injuries and his thorny relationship with AEW management, including head booker Tony Khan. It seems they could never agree on the creative direction for his character on AEW television.

AEW did bring his real wife, CJ Perry (formerly known as Lana), into the company very briefly for a angle involving him. The couple is currently separated.

Word is that his current contract ends in spring of 2026 and that contract is in the seven figure range.

His last match was at The World’s End show in 2023  where he defeated Andrade. In total, he has wrestled approximately 30 or so matches for AEW since signing in 2020.
