G1 Climax update: Newman stuns the world

At night five of NJPW’s G1 Climax tournament Callum Newman of The United Empire stunned the world by defeating veteran Shingo Takagi.

Newman absorbed a Pumping Bomber clothesline kicking out at two. Newman blocked Last of the Dragon and withstood nine million forearms to the head to drop Shingo with a jumping knee strike. Newman scored a two count with a Spanish Fly off the ropes. Newman’s cutter off the ropes was blocked by a Shingo clothesline to the back of the head. Newman kicked out of a standing Pumping Bomber. Newman bounced, flipped out of a DDT to give Shingo a cutter off the ropes for the massive upset.
