Dynamite: It’s tournament time as the Forbidden Door opens up

Greetings and salutations. It’s time for another episode of Dynamite. This week on the show we have a stacked card. MJF and RUSH will open the show with a singles match, and the Owen Hart Foundation Tournaments will get underway with PAC vs. Claudio Castagnoli and Kris Statlander vs. Nyla Rose. We will also finally see the brackets to the tournament. With all this and more, let’s get to the action.


MJF VS RUSH


We start off with some punches between both men. RUSH hits a chop on MJF. MJF then with a chop. RUSH hits a headbutt on MJF and delivers some stomps on him. RUSH hits MJF with a German Suplex and gets a close pinfall. MJF is up, but RUSH delivers some hard right punches on MJF. RUSH then charges at him, but MJF moves out of the way and hits a DDT. MJF then hits RUSH with a piledriver and gets a close pin of his own.

MJF then charges at RUSH, but RUSH responds with a belly-to-belly suplex on MJF in the corner. Both men end up at ringside and RUSH sends MJF to the barricades a few times. RUSH grabs a cable and hits MJF with it. RUSH also grabbed a chair and tossed it onto the ring. RUSH seats MJF on a chair and rushes at him, but MJF moved out of the way sending RUSH hard to the barricade.

RUSH then hits a belly-to-belly throw on MJF off the apron and onto the floor. RUSH tosses MJF back inside the ring and sets up for the Bull’s horns, but MJF evades it and hits RUSH with a clothesline. MJF hits a spinebuster. MJF bounces RUSH’s head off the turnbuckle. In the corner, MJF with some punches and bites to RUSH, followed by a Piledriver and a Brainbuster for the win.

Winner: MJF

After the match, Brian Cage, The Gates of Agony, and Hechicero appear on the screen. Cage announces that by order of The Elite, Hechicero will face MJF at Forbidden Door.


Orange Cassidy, Kyle O’Reilly, Mark Briscoe, and Dante Martin are backstage with Renee Paquette. Mark Briscoe promises he won’t lose the match after talking a big game like last week. Jack Perry walks into the shot and walks away as Briscoe tells him to get out of there. Briscoe hypes up O’Reilly and Martin, who leave with him. Renee asks Cassidy how he’s feeling, and he gives her a friendship bracelet.


Championship Face-to-Face


AEW International Champion Will Ospreay and AEW World Champion Swerve Strickland come out for their face-to-face. Will Ospreay says last week Swerve said he can’t carry the weight of both worlds, but Ospreay says he’s more than capable of that. Ospreay reminds us he is the best wrestler in the world. Swerve Strickland says Ospreay already messed up because he’s the best wrestler in the world.

Strickland says they have taken two different career paths for the last five years, and it all culminates at Forbidden Door. Strickland says last year at Forbidden Door, Ospreay needed help to beat Kenny Omega and wonders if he will need help to win this year.

Will Ospreay says he doesn’t need Don Callis or the family and he can do this by himself. Ospreay says what he did to Omega last year was only the beginning of the Summer of Ospreay and then said while Swerve had a “Hit Row,” he had a hit list, and he took out every single one of them. Will says just because he retired one move doesn’t mean he can’t beat him with another. Strickland says he doesn’t go by “what ifs.”, but he goes by certainties.

Strickland says this AEW World Championship will consume him, and he’ll have to sacrifice his wife and son. Ospreay says not to mention his son again. Things get testy. Prince Nana calms things down and tells them to save everything for the Forbidden Door. Nana asks whose house it is. Ospreay says it’s his house,but Strickland once again calls out Ospreay’s wife and son. The two go face to face.


The Don Callis Family is backstage. Trent Beretta is upset about what Ospreay said. Callis says he knows Will Ospreay better than anyone, and there’s nothing to worry about; everything is going to be fine.


Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Dante Martin VS Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher, Zack Sabre Jr., and Roderick Strong (w/ The Kingdom)


The match starts off with all 8 men brawling. Briscoe and Fletcher are left alone as Feltcher hits an Enzuigiri.Fletcher then hits a Tope Suicida on Mark, but O’Reilly flies off the apron to land on him. O’Reilly locks in a Knee Bar on Strong using the middle rope. Sabre Jr. then sends Cassidy onto the apron, then locks in an Arm Bar using the top rope as Mark flies to land on Fletcher. Martin then hits a hurricanrana on Takeshita in the ring.

Mark hits a Death Valley Driver on Takeshita. O’Reilly climbs to the top along with Briscoe. Briscoe hits an Elbow Drop and O’Reilly follows it up with a knee off the top. Cassidy tags in and climbs to the top and hits an elbow drop of his own.

Sabre Jr. grabs Cassidy’s ankle and Takeshita kicks him a few times. Everyone starts brawling again, but as the smoke clears Sabre Jr. hits  an uppercut on O’Reilly. Cassidy tries to be sneaky and hit a Stun-Dog Millionaire on Sabre Jr., but he avoids it, but Cassidy gets a roll up pin for 2. Strong then tags in and hits an Enzuigiri on Cassidy, then sends Cassidy crashing into the mat face first. Cassidy is up and hits the Orange Punch on Strong for the win.

Winners: Orange Cassidy, Mark Briscoe, Kyle O’Reilly, and Dante Martin

Jack Perry attacks Dante Martin on the stage. Mark Briscoe and Konosuke Takeshita brawl to the back. Orange Cassidy and Zack Sabre Jr. have a staredown in the middle of the ring.


A video package plays for Mercedes Moné versus Stephanie Vaquer at Forbidden Door.

RUSH is backstage angry about his loss earlier on in the show, and Don Callis says something to him in Spanish which makes RUSH angry.

NOTE: Luckily I am Latino andcan translate what Callis said. Callis said “Every failure is an opportunity”.


AEW World Tag Team Championship Eliminator Match: AEW World Tag Team Champions The EVPs The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson and Nicholas Jackson) VS The Acclaimed (Anthony Bowens and Max Caster)


The Acclaimed were making their way down to the ring and Max Caster was rapping. His mic was cut off mid-rap. “The Rainmaker” Kazuchika Okada was then shown on Khan-O-Tron and says he hit the wrong button and was so sorry. The Young Bucks meet them up the entrance to start things off.

Bowens tags in and hits a couple of forearms on The Bucks, then follows it up with a Famouser on Nicholas. Matthew then hits Bowens with a superkick, but Bowens comes right back and hits a Back Elbow. Nicholas then tags in and climbs to the top as Matthew drapes Bowens off the middle rope. Nicholas hits a Senton. The Bucks look to hit the EVP trigger, but Bowens stops it but Matthew hits a kick allowing The Bucks to hit a Double Superkick for nearfall. The Bucks then hit the EVP Trigger on him and go for a pin, but Caster breaks the fall. The Bucks hit a Sliced Bread-powerbomb combination on Bowens out of the corner.

Matthew then grabs one of  of the AEW World Tag Team Championship belts, but Bowens ducks from the attack. As the ref tosses the belt aside, Nicholas grabs the other belt. He then looks to hit Bowens with it, but Bowens ducks out of the way and Nicholas accidentally hits Matthew with it instead. Bowens then hits the Arrival on Nicholas and Caster follows it up with Mic Drop. Bowens then pins Matthew for the win.

Samoa Joe and HOOK look to attack The Premier Athletes in their locker room, but the room is empty. There’s a letter from Smart Mark Sterling challenging Joe, HOOK, and Katsuyori Shibata to a trios match on Collision. It’s accepted.


Women’s Contract Signing


Mariah May hosted the contract signing between Toni Storm and Mina Shirakawa. May said this match was going to be very difficult for her, but she loved them both. Mina told Mariah to shut up and told Toni Storm that she’s soft and weak nowadays. Mina says everyone wants her, and nobody wants Toni. Mina said she’ll take Storm’s title AND girl at Forbidden Door. Toni Storm says if Mina raises her voice like that again, she’ll slap her bloody tits off. Storm says chin up, tits out, and watch for the shoe before signing her contract.

Mina says Mariah must choose between them. Saraya, Harley Cameron, and Anna Jay, attacks them from behind. Storm tries to hit Saraya with the hip attack but goes through a previously set up table. May and Mina were at the stage as all this went down.


Owen Hart Foundation Women’s Tournament Quarterfinal Match: “The Native Beast” Nyla Rose vs. Kris Statlander


Rose up top, but Statlander escapes and sends Rose crashing to ringside. Back in the ring, Rose throws Statlander into the corner. Rose hits a clothesline on Statlander, then follows it up with a splash in the corner and a Cannonball for good measure. Statlander then kicks Rose’s head, and follows it up with a Scissor Kick. Statlander then climbs to the top and looks to hit a 450 Splash, but Rose rolls out of the way and joins Statlander up top. Statlander kicks Rose’s head, followed by a Piledriver for the win

Winner: Kris Statlander

Stokely Hathaway says he knows Willow Nightingale wants to beat their asses, but if she puts a hand on them, she’s going to jail with Justin Timberlake. Willow Nightingale shows up on the Khan-O-Tron. She congratulates Kris her on her win and says she is fighting Serena Deeb this Friday on Rampage. She then announces that after Kris wins that match, she’ll see Statlander in the semi-finals.


Private Party is backstage with Renee Paquette. It’s announced they have a match on Rampage against Komander and Gran Metalik. Chris Jericho says they cheated last week and tries to give them advice. Big Bill says Private Party made quite the first impression but those aren’t always good, and says he’s looking forward to their tag team match on Collision. Bryan Keith tells them they better respect Chris Jericho.


Daniel Garcia VS Rhett Titus


It’s a quick match as Daniel Garcia hit Rhett Titus with a double hook Lungblower for the win.

Winner: Daniel Garcia

Brian Cage, The Gates of Agony, and Hechicero attack Garcia and Daddy Magic after the match. MJF is out, but there are too many of them. Will Ospreay is out and helps MJF clear the ring. MJF and Ospreay bump into each other and go face to face. MJF leaves, and Ospreay shows respect to Garcia.


Will Ospreay is backstage, and Renee Paquette asks him about MJF. Ospreay says he doesn’t care about MJF, and he went out there to help Daniel Garcia. Brian Cage storms in and screams at Ospreay. A title match is made between the two men for Collision on Saturday.


Owen Hart Foundation Men’s Tournament Quarterfinal Match: Claudio Castagnoli VS “The Bastard” PAC


PAC  sends Catagnoli crashing into the ring post shoulder first. PAC then hits a hurricanrana off the ring apron on Castagnoli. PAC continues the attack as he hits a Springboard Moonsault and a Tornado DDT.

PAC then gets Castagnoli back in the ring and hits him with an elbow drop off the top rope. We get some back and forth action that ends as PAC kicks Castagnoli. PAC to the top rope and jumps, but Castagnoli moves out of the way. PAC is down and Castagnoli hits The Swing on PAC. Castagnoli looks to hit the Ricola Bomb, but PAC converts it into a submission. Castagnoli that into a Sharpshooter, then turns it into a Crossface, but PAC escapes. PAC with a roll up, but Castagnoli is out, and we get a few back and forth pin attempts until PAC gets Castagnoli’s shoulders down for the sneaky win.

Winner: PAC

Claudio Castagnoli refuses to shake PAC’s hand as AEW Dynamite goes off the air.
