Action News in AEW’s home base of Jacksonville, Florida, is reporting that the promotion is seeking “crowd fillers” for this week’s shows there.
Reporter Ben Becker writes: “Action News Jax has obtained an internal City of Jacksonville email from the Military Affairs and Veterans Department which says they are “looking for 50 people per night to attend as ‘fillers’.”
The communication from Tiffany Morales, a veterans outreach manager states: I have just been told AEW will be having two shows in Jacksonville this week. One tonight and one on Saturday. I am looking for 50 people per night to attend as “fillers”.
The Hollywood Reporter describes a “seat filler” as “volunteers whose purpose is to fill out the venue when the camera pans the audience”.
Becker also reports: “Daily’s Place has a listed capacity of 5,500, but according to WrestleTix, it is only set up for 2,459 fans on Wednesday and still has 325 available tickets. Several AEW shows have recently been half-empty, with an average of 2,000 to 3,500 fans in attendance.”
Becker did reach out to AEW for comment but hasn’t received any communications about the situation.
