Cameron Grimes might be still be rocketing “to the moon” but it will be somewhere besides WWE.
Grimes himself has revealed today that WWE has released him.
Grimes referred to himself under his old moniker “Trevor Lee” in the social media post.
“I have just gotten off the phone with WWE and unfortunately I have been released from my contract,” said Lee stating that the last thing he told his father is that he finally signed with WWE.
“I loved working here. I loved working at WWE. I wanted to thank everyone who has helped me,” he continued.
With tears in his eyes he then said all he wants to do is work and wrestling is all he has.
“There aren’t going to be stopping Trevor Lee now, baby!” he said.
Grimes has a very decent run in NXT starting in 2019. His popularity led to “The Richest Man In NXT” angle in which he feuded with LA Knight but gained a mentor in “Million Dollar Man” Ted Dibiase. He also won the Million Dollar Championship.
Grime won the NXT North American Championship from Carmelo Hayes in a five-man ladder match which also included Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa and Grayson Waller at Stand & Deliver 2022. He would lose back to Melo 63 days later at NXT In Your House.
Grimes would be called up to the main roster in 2023 minus his NXT gimmicks. He never seemed to fit in, gain any ground or receive a decent push on Smackdown.
In his last match on April 12th he was defeated by Bron Breakker.
