Wrestling icon Matt Hardy is a free agent.

Hardy confirmed on his The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast that he is not signed with any promotion at present and didn’t resign with AEW.

“Yes, I am a free agent right now. I am just negotiating and talking. I have interacted with everyone and am still interacting with AEW. That is where we are at right now,” he said.

Hardy explained that he is weighing all of his options at present. He apologized specifically to all the indie promotions who have contacted him since news circulated that he is no longer under contract with AEW.

“I am in no rush to do it (sign a contract). I want to make sure I go to the best place possible. I don’t want to make a quick decision. I want to make sure I am doing the right thing for me, long-term,” he added.

Hardy said he hasn’t ruled out returning to AEW but felt the time was right to explore all of his options and offers.

“I just want to reiterate that I love AEW. AEW is paramount to the health of the pro-wrestling industry. I am a big advocate of the schedule they have,” said Hardy who is the father of four young kids.

Hardy doesn’t have a legal team or agent handling his negotiations. He is handling his own business as he always has.

Hardy’s last match with AEW was in January of this year in which The Hardys teamed with Mark Briscoe to defeat Kip Sabian, The Bucher and The Blade on an episode of Rampage.
