Cody escapes burning tour bus

It was a close call for Cody and his crew.

On the Pat McAfee show live from WWE World, Rhodes revealed that last night while traveling to Philadelphia the tour bus he was on burst into flames.

“Michael knows this. I texted him. Last night was the first night I was getting a little sleep before we get into this big, big, big event we call WrestleMania. All of a sudden there was this loud bang on the side of my bus! I thought it was a gunshot! I was terrified! I clammed up! The next thing I know my bus driver yells: We’ve got to get of this bus! It’s on fire!” said Cody.

Cody has the presence of mind to grab the items most important to him.

“My bus didn’t burn to a crisp but it was up in a big fireball for a moment. The reason I share this story is I am here this morning, non-flinching, I grabbed two things off my bus when I thought: Well, this is it! I grabbed a picture of my daughter and a picture of my wife…and then I grabbed my WrestleMania boots!” he told the crowd.

Cody thanked the Philadelphia Fire Department for their outstanding work on his and his crew’s behalf.

“All of the suits that I own, there is a smell of of them. We got a lot of stuff out of there and it all worked out,” he said thankfully.

Cody joked that if he wasn’t “red hot” before appearing on McAfee’s show, he was now.

“There is nobody here that is more ready for WrestleMania than me,” he said.
