The main event of night two of the New Japan Cup tournament continued to throw gasoline on the feud between The United Empire and The Bullet Club War Dogs. TJP faced David Finlay in a brawl, fight not really a wrestling match.
TJP doesn’t wait for the bell to ring. He jumps Finlay before he enters the ring. He smashes Finlay against a steel post. Back in the ring he paintbrushes Finlay in a corner finally hitting him with a running kick twice. Finlay makes a comeback picking up TJP and throwing him into a steel post. TJP comes back with a running body press that takes him and Finlay over the top rope and to the arena floor.
Gedo hands Finlay his shillelagh. TJP spits red mist in Finlay’s face. TJP hits a running knee to the back of the head for a two count. TJP drop kicks Gedo off the apron. Finlay kicks out of Mamba Splash. He also escapes the Pinoy Stretch by grabbing the bottom rope. Finlay though pins TJP with a Bitter Pill.
The two bulls Tanga Loa and The Great-O-Khan clashed in their first round match. The fight soon hits the floor where Khan takes an empty chair and chokes out Loa with it. He then closes the barricade door on Loa’s throat and slams it over and over on his back. Loa barely makes it back into the ring on time. Loa arm drags his way out of an Eliminator. Spears and knee strikes Khan for the win to move on in the tournament. “Suck that!” Loa shouts to Khan slamming his fist on the mat.
As Chase Owens comes out “Mr Juicy” Gino Gambino announces that it is Chase Owens’ birthday and he should get the win over Ishii. Before the bell rings, Ishii attacks Owens sending him to the floor. We are informed that Owens was recently involved in a serious car accident before he flew to the Japan. Ishii throws Owens into ringside barricades. Owens grabs a Young Lion so that Ishii cannot suplex him on the floor. He shoves the Young Lion into Ishii. Ishii almost doesn’t make it back into the ring before the 20 count.
It is then Owens’ turn to hurl Ishii into barricades.
Owens to the official admonishing him: “It is MY birthday. Relax!”.
Owens breaks out of Ishii’s brainbuster, gives him a pop-up knee trigger to the face and a Package Piledriver for the win.
“Walker, you are taking me to the expensive steak meal tonight,” says Owens to Walker Stewart.
“I said I would,” answers Stewart.
Owens invited Gino to dinner too.
