The seven time world champion CM Punk will be missing some time due to injury which includes Wrestlemania 40.
Per Mike Johnson of PW Insider, the Windy City native has torn his triceps and heading towards surgery after tonight’s episode of WWE Raw. He is expected to miss six to eight weeks. This was his first match in the WWE since the 2014 Rumble.
This is the same injury that Punk suffered at All Out Sept. 2022 against Jon Moxley. He had gone through surgery after that one too.
It was said by Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, Punk was seen waving off the ringside doctor near the end of the match. Cody Rhodes eliminated Punk to win back to back Royal Rumble’s.
Even after failing the Royal Rumble, the company still planned for Punk to challenge Seth Rollins for the WWE Heavyweight Championship even after Rollins’ own injury.
The match between the two has been built up since Dec. 18 Raw. The direction after Punk’s injury is yet to be known.
WrestleMania has also taken some severe other hits with recent reports stating that due to him being mentioned in the Vince McMahon allegations that Brock Lesnar’s planned match against Intercontinental Champion Gunther is off the table. It is why Bron Breakker took his place at the Royal Rumble last weekend. In the court filing, it is stated that Lesnar was contacted by McMahon during their contract negotiations about a “playdate” he could arrange with the plaintiff in the suit and former WWE employee, Janel Grant. Lesnar reportedly asked for and received a video of Grant urinating. A actual meeting between the two never came to pass.
WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins, suffered a torn MCL and partially torn meniscus during his title defence against Jinder Mahal on Raw a few weeks ago. He might or might not be healed up by the time WrestleMania rolls around on April 6 and 7th.
