If one were to connect the dots it seems that the WWE is launching a new match concept or a new show soon.
A recent trademark filing for ‘WWE Speed’ reads: “WWE SPEED™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.”
Adding to the curiosity is the before the Smackdown went live on December 15th the WWE filmed, staged two matches with ‘WWE Speed’ branding all around the ring and also a timer counting down a five minute time limit during the bouts.
In the matches, Axiom fought Cedric Alexander and Bronson Reed battled Nathan Frazier.
Is WWE Speed a new show or a new type of match? Stay tuned.
