Collision: The Continental Classic sees some clutch matches and a former champion returns

Greetings and salutations! It’s Saturday so that means it’s a good night for fighting. This week on the show we have a slew of Blue League matches for the Continental Classic. Brody King will face Bryan Danielson, Andrade El Idolo will face Claudio Castagnoli, and Eddie Kingston will face Daniel Garcia. In the Blue league we have Andrade in the lead with 9 points. After tonight, one can only assume what the rankings will look like. We also have a International Title match so without further ado, let’s get to the action!


We get the usual open with promos from Eddie Kingston, Daniel Garcia, Claudio Castagnoli, Andrade El Idolo, Brody King, Bryan Danielson all saying they will win their matches for all the Continental Classic points. Orange Cassidy saying he doesn’t know what to say.


Continental Classic Blue League: Andrade El Idolo VS Claudio Castagnoli


The match starts off and Andrade hits a few Dragon Screws, but Castagnoli came right back with a Pop-Up Uppercut for a 2-count. When we got back from break, Castagnoli with his Swing. Andrade is back as he gets Castagnoli down and locks in a Figure-Four, but its broken up via rope break. The two battle back and forth some more and Andrade hits a Sunset Bomb on Castagnoli for a 2-count of his own. The two keep battling back and forth and Castagnoli sits Andrade in the middle rope and hits a Superplex.

Andrade once again comes back and tries for a 3-Amigos, but the final Suplex gets blocked. Castagnoli keeps pressing but Andrade hits his famous Back Elbow for yet another 2-count. With both men on the ropes, Andrade avoids a move and hits Andrade on the top rope. The ref gets distracted by putting the turnbcukle cover back on, and Castagnoli takes advantage and knees Andrade under he belt and hits a Neutralizer for the win.

Winner: Claudio Castagnoli


Castagnoli now with six points ;Andrade remained at nine; Bryan Danielson and Brody King each have six points; Eddie Kingston has three points; and  Daniel Garcia has no points

Abadon VS Jazmin Allure


Abadon no-sold Allure’s kicks. Abadon with a kick of her own and hit a running knee to the head of Allure. Abadon with a DDT for the win.

Winner: Abadon

After the match the lights went out and the TBS Champion Julia Hart appeared in the ring when they came on. Hart placed the title belt between her and Abadon. Abadon with a spear and Hart fights back, but Abadon got the advantage via a running knee strike. Abadon picked up the TBS Title and then Skye Blue comes into the ring and stares Abadon down then gives Hart a look. Blue then attacks Abadon and Hart joins in. Thunder Rosa hopped the barricade and helped Abadon. Rosa extends her hand and Abadon accepted.


Renee Paquette interviewed AEW Trios Champions Billy Gunn and “The Acclaimed” Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. Gunn said they have been knocked down and they get up again and now they are pissed off. Caster said they were coming for whoever is under The Devil mask. Caster then says he wants nothing to do with MJF anymore because he put them in danger. Bowens said they would beat their “Scooby Doo asses” and then get back to being the best trio in history.

Dante Martin, Darius Martin, and Action Andretti show up and Dante said they didn’t attack The Acclaimed. The trio boast about their recent wins and said they want a title match for next week’s AEW Collision in San Antonio.

AEW International Championship: Orange Cassidy (C) VS Bryan Keith


Keith got things started off with a Big Boot and we head to commercial. After a fun fun back and forth match we saw Keith attempting to hit a Gut-Wrench but Cassidy escapes it and hits a Beach Break for a 2-count.Cassidy with the hardest kicks in the industry, causing Keith to respond with kicks of his own. Cassidy ended up in the corner and hits a Cutter from the middle rope for a 2-count of his own. Keith going for a move, Cassidy counters and locks him in a pin attempt for the win.

Winner: AND STILL AEW International Champion; Orange Cassidy

After the match, Cassidy extends a hand for a handshake but Keith slaps his hand away but instead bowed and tipped his hat. Cassidy tips his glasses.


Tony Schiavone acknowledged that Brodie Lee would have turned 44 today and offered best wishes to his widow Amanda and their children

A video package airs of Miro, who is conflicted over what’s happening with his wife, CJ Perry, and her client Andrade El Idolo. Miro teases he’s eagerly awaiting Andrade to get knocked out of the Continental Classic so he can go after him.

Lexi Nair is in the back with Komander. She gives kudos for his performance in the Survival of the Fittest match. “Komander!!!” says Roderick Strong as he slowly makes his way to the frame along with Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. Strong and Bennett say they are both former ROH TV Champions. Strong points at Komander signaling that he is their next target and yells his name again.


FTR Speak in the ring…


“FTR” Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler are in the ring and Wheeler demands for House of Black to meet them face to face. Wheeler touts all the accomplishments they’ve had in AEW. Wheeler said Malakai Black and Buddy Matthews are still just unrealized potential and says that House of Black is just jealous of the success that Brody King and Julia Hart are having.

Harwood says that he’s heard it all from FTR not having the best bodies to being hard to work with but says they don’t back down from a fight. Harwood then says that he has a problem being hit from behind. Harwood is about to call out House of Black and his mic cuts out. Black appears on the Khan-O-Tron and says that he’s ready to make it personal. Black takes out a picture of Harwood with his wife and daughter. FTR runs towards them in the back and as Black sets the picture on fire. Black said it was symbolic and whether FTR likes it or not, they are their family now.


We see a Keith Lee Video Package.


Texas Street Fight:Kris Statlander and Willow Nightingale VS Mercedes Martinez and Diamante


The ring was full of weapons and the match starts off right away. The teams are brawling all over ring side and Willow gets bottled while Statlander hits a DDT on Diamante onto a barbwire bat. Statlander is fighting with Martinez. Statlander and Willow continue to brawl and the ring steps are moved. Diamante ran up the steps and dove onto Statlander and Willow, but they catch her and slam her.

Back in the ring, Martinez slammed a tire iron over Willow’s back. Statlander sets up 3 chairs on the ring mat. Martinez gets Statlander on the ropes and then hits a Suplex right onto the chairs. Diamante with a pin, but Statlander with a break. Willow is up and she stares right at Diamante who slaps and flips her off.

Later int he match, Willow speared Diamante into a board that was set up in the corner. The board was still standing so Willow slams Diamante through it, but the board is still not broke! Diamante slammed a briefcase over Statlander’s back to break up a pin she had on Martinez.

Diamante opened the briecase and poured thumbtacks and glass onto the mat. Martinez slams Statlander’s head into the pile of debris. Diamante with a Canadian Destroyer on Statlander right on the tacks and glass and goes for the pin, but Nightingale with the save. Martinez with a Powerbomb on  Willow through a table that was set up on the floor. Martinez is back in the ring and Statlander wrapped a chain around her arm before hitting a clothesline on Martinez for the win!

Renee Paquette is in the back with AEW Women’s Champion and Mariah May. Paquette announced that the winner of Riho vs. Saraya on Dynamite will challenge Storm for the title at the Worlds End. Paquette asked Storm if she had a preference on who to face, but Storm said no. Renee turns her attention to May. May mentioned that Tony Khan helped her apply for her American wrestling license. May said she will have her first match soon. May then asked Storm to be on commentary for it. Storm said she’s very busy and May was okay with it but hopes to get some pointers from Storm after the match.  Storm said May would be the first to know when she holds another seminar. Storm goes back to talking and said that she hopes Riho and Saraya tear  each other’s eyes out.

An Adam Copeland and Christian Cage video package aired. Copeland said he should have been better prepared for all scenarios in Montreal and said that he wanted Cage in a No DQ match at Worlds End. Copeland said he would beat Cage and become the new TNT Champion.


Brian Cage (w/Prince Nana) VS Kari Wright


Cage hits a Drill Claw after no selling all of Wright’s offense.

Winner: Brian Cage

Lexi Nair is set to interview Brian Cage, Toa Liona, Bishop Kaun, and Prince Nana in the back. Nana said Swerve would win the Continental Classic and puts over the rest of the group. Nana started to sing “we’re in the money.” when Keith Lee showed up and said they would tell “him” that his patience is running out………..

Tony Schiavone said Tony Khan has made a match official for next week’s Collision. We will see Julia Hart and Skye Blue facing Thunder Rosa and Abadon.


Continental Classic tournament Blue League: Eddie Kingston VS Daniel Garcia


Matt Menard is on commentary for this match. The match starts and Kingston hits a DDT. After the break, Garcia is in the corner and Kingston with a set of chops. Garcia wants more so Kingston with more chops. Garcia does his dance but Kingston chops him some more. This happened a few times. Kingston backs up and charges Garcia, but he moves out of the way and hits a Running Boot on Kingston, hitting his head. Garcia with a ragon Screw, then locks a Kneebar but this is broken up as Kingston reached for the ropes.

Garcia with an Ankle Lock , but Kingston with another rope break. Kingston is up and hits a Suplex, then knocks him down to the mat with a Spinning Back Fist for a nearfall. Garcia suplexed Kingston twice and got a near fall of his own. Moments later, Garcia was looking for his Dragon Slayer finisher, but Kingston avoids it, Kingston stands up to Garcia and both me rade slaps and chops.  Garcia dropkicked Kingston’s knee, but Kingston is right back up and hits a Suplex followed by a Back fist for the win. \

Winner: Eddie Kingston.

After the match, Menard was shown looking frustrated.


Continental Classic tournament Blue League: Bryan Danielson VS Brody King


The match starts off quick as Danielson with tons of kicks on the leg of King. King sends Danielson to the corner and King hits his Running Cannonball. Danielson signaling that his eye is hurting and the ref checks on him. Both men are at ringside and King slams Danielson off the announce table not once, but twice, then slams him on the barricade. King grabs a chair and sits Danielson down on it. King with a Running Crossbody on a seated Danielson.

Danielson, who is now bleeding over his eye is back in the match and lands a Flying Knee of King from the apron. Both men are back in the ring, and Danielson climbs to the top and hits a Missile Dropkick sending King to other corner, but still on his feet. Danielson with a Dropkick on King, followed by a series of kicks. King is shaken up and Danielson seats him on the top rope. King trips up Danielson and hits him with a Clothesline, sending Danielson back into the ring. Danielson slowly claws his way back into the match and gets King in a Half Crab. Danielson is up and Elbows King’s head. King is up and does a Death Valley Driver on Danielson for a 2-count. Danielson with Busaiku Knee and goes for the pin, but King is up at 1. Danielson with more kicks as King tries to get up. King with a massive Clothesline as Danielson went for a kick, which was good for a 2-count.

King is firmly in control and goes for a Powerbomb, but Danielson turns this into an inside cradle for a 2-count. Danielson with a few Busaiku Knee strikes. Once again as King tries to get up, Danielson hits him with another Busaiku Knee to the back of the head which was good for the win.

Winner: Bryan Danielson. 

Danielson is selling his beating at the hands of King to end the show…
