Wrestlers battle on speeding bullet train in Japan

If you were on the Tokaido Shinkansen bullet train between Tokyo and Nagoya last night you would have shared the train with some unexpected passengers: 75 wrestling fans, Minoru Suzuki and CyberFight President Sanshiro Takagi.

DDT Pro-Wrestling held a match between the two on the speeding train selling 75 tickets to those who wanted to get up close and personal with the combatants as they fought all through the compartment, car but both men were not allowed to destroy or damage any part of the compartment. Jun Akiyama and Kenta Kobashi also made appearances during the match as well as other DDT stars. Kobashi was dressed as a ticket taker and traded chops with Suzuki.

The train itself can achieve speeds of 285 KPH and this match was the first of its kind in Japan, perhaps anywhere.

The Central Japan Railway Company allows patrons or organizations to rent out train compartments for social events, etc.

DDT is known for staging weird matches in swimming pools, spas and empty arenas. They have also put on “comedy matches” such as this:

The match itself last 30 minutes and Suzuki ended up winning with his Gotch Style Piledriver.
