Sanada, the IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, remains flawless at the G1 Climax 33 Tournament. Sanada notched his sixth win in a row by defeating Gabe Kidd tonight. Sanada remains as the only G1 Climax 33 competitor who is undefeated. Sanada leads A Block with 12 points. Hikuleo, Kaito Kiyomiya and Shota Umino are tied for a distant second place with six points and three wins each.
Kazuchika Okada recovered from his loss to Will Ospreay by beating Kenta. His loss to Ospreay is his only defeat thus far in the tournament. Kenta played a lot of “hide and seek” at the start of the match ducking out of the ring. Okada caught him sliding back into the ring though backing him into a corner. Okada lowered the boom on Kents with kicks, haymakers and forearms.
Okada followed out Kenta to the floor which is exactly what he wanted. He slammed Okada’s back into the ring apron and the ringside barricade. Back inside the ring, Okada demanded Kenta label him with some of his kicks and Kenta was all but too happy to oblige. Kenta grounded Okada with a head lock and submissions forcing Okada to reach for the ropes to escape.
Kenta got out of Okada’s Tombstone Piledriver by mauling, raking Okada’s face. Okada blocked Kenta’s Tornado DDT from the top rope, spin him around, placed him back on the top rope and drop kicked him to the floor.
Okada whipped Kenta into the security fence and then kicked him over it with a boot to the face. Kenta escaped from an attempted draping DDT on the rail to smash Okada’s back into a steel post. Kenta gave Okada the draping DDT on the floor instead stunning him.
Kenta breaks the Money Clip by ramming Okada into Red Shoes. Kenta retrieves a kendo stick from under the ring. He wails on Okada with it. Okada ends the beating with a shotgun drop kick. Okada picks up the kendo stick. He ponders using it and then throws it out of the ring in disgust. Kenta runs at Okada with the Strong Openweight Championship belt. Okada hits him with yet another shotgun drop kick.
Kenta ducks or falls out of the way of Okada’s first Rainmaker Clothesline. With one minute remaining in the match, Okada pins Kenta with a Landslide and a Rainmaker Clothesline. With that loss Kenta cannot win the tournament and can only play “spoiler” now.
