MLW National Openweight Champion, Jacob Fatu, is being accused of accepting appearance fees from charities and then ghosting them.

One such non-profit charity, Jake’s Network of Hope, is going public with their story after seeing that other charities have suffered the same disappointment.

Jenn Harper, the director of development for Jake’s Network of Hope, spoke to NBC 26’s Darby McCarthy, claiming that Fatu was booked for a charity wrestling event but never showed up. Fatu told Harper he had a family emergency.

“We gave him the benefit of the doubt at Jake’s. We are 100 percent about family,” she said.

After the event which featured such other names as Billy Gunn, Vampiro, Tatanka and Brian Pillman Jr., Harper says that was the last she heard from Fatu and the $2,633 USD they paid to him for his hotel, his flight and autographs.

“After that he ghosted us, he ghosted the production team that puts together the wrestling shows,” she said.

Once she made Jake’s story public online Harper says other organizations began sharing their stories about Fatu and similar experiences with him.

Although Fatu has not addressed the accusations Harper says that a member of his family who doesn’t wrestle any longer has offered to appear and support next year’s event.
