Not only is there a lot of Damage on this NWA USA, but we got a three-way Main event with “Magic” Jake Dumas, Mercurio, and PJ Hawx. Dumas and Mercurio are not big fans of each other, but Hawx may be the difference-maker.
We come to you from SudioOne in Highland Park, Il. Joe Galli, Tim Storm, and Danny Dealz have the call, and your First Match of the night is…
Damage, (with Aron Stevens) vs. Rush Freeman (with Rolando Freeman)
Rush gives it the old college try as a shoulder tackles by Damage makes him powder out early for Rolando to give him a quick pep talk. But the Blunt Force Trauma member just manhandles the Spectacular in grand fashion, as Stevens looks on, pleased as punch. Rush goes out, and now Rolando gives his little brother some tough love, but not as tough as Damage grabbing Rush by the hair and getting sent out to the concrete and then slammed headfirst into the steel steps. Rush attempts to fire back with tackles in the corner and send him to the ropes, but Damage delivers a huge spinebuster for the merciful three count.
Your Winner via Pinfall: Damage
May Valentine is backstage with the NWA US Tag Team Champions, The Country Gentlemen. She congratulates Anthony Andrews and AJ Canaza on their auto entry into The Crockett Cup. Andrews states that they represent the NWA and show they are the best tag team in the United States. Cazana chimes in and acknowledges that the NWA Tag Team champs, La Rebelión, can talk down to them, but for anyone else that wants to step up in the Cup, he advises they got them Dead to rights.
And now we head back to the squared circle for some women’s action between…
Sierra vs. Kylie Paige
Sierra is making her debut, having trained under the Beer City Bruiser. Paige is participating in her second match with the NWA. Early on in the match, Sierra proves she is very powerful, but Kylie is wily (hey, that rhymes!). She gets behind Sierra and blasts her with a forearm to the back of her head. Paige keeps talking smack and gets a turnbuckle suplex in the corner and follows with a running dropkick right in Sierra’s face. Paige goes for the cover but gets a two count. Sierra comes back with a backslide to Paige for a two count, then a rollup for the same result. Sierra gets her second wind and sends Paige to the ropes, but she puts on the brakes, gives her the boot, and then delivers a Code Red (or “Code Kylie,” as Dealz called it) for the pin and the win.
Your Winner via Pinfall: Kylie Paige
Valentine is now with The Most Feared, Kratos. He says that he is handsome and has more gold than Liberace. But he also mentions that he decided to pair up with the Immortal Odinson, and they will go through the competition in The Crockett Cup.
Valentine now has with her The SVGS; Jax Dane, and Blake “Bulletproof” Troop. Dane does most of the talking for this segment as Valentine congratulates them both on qualifying for the Cup. She also inquires if having Chris Silvio, Esq. helps or hurts their chances during the Cup. Dane says they’re violent enough without him, but he makes them a little bit better as a tag team.
Not sure about that, since they had a couple of losses, but I won’t argue with either of those guys either.
And now it’s time for the Main Event and it’s a Triple Threat match between…
PJ Hawx vs. Mercurio vs. “Magic” Jake Dumas (with CJ)
Dumas and Mercurio start arguing right from the get-go, and then Hawx interjects with his technical wrestling acumen. He is firmly in the driver’s seat as he sends the Magic man out of the ring and then deadlifts Mercurio for a gutwrench suplex. Mercurio and Dumas start to bicker some more on the outside, but CJ plays…peacemaker(?).
Okay, let’s run with that.
Both men get back in the ring and Hawx catches Mercurio with a takedown, but Dumas attacks from behind and now the numbers catch up to the young Hawx Aerie member. The match gets a little spotty by Mercurio, but he then manages to slam Hawx to the mat, but Dumas covers for a two count. Mercurio follows with a double underhook suplex, but Dumas breaks the count. Whatever truce they had gets undone as both men get Hawx in a Camel Clutch/Boston Crab double submission to try and one-up the other. As they both set up Hawx on the top turnbuckle, he sends Mercurio and Dumas crashing to the ring and then he nails a double crossbody and explodes through the competition. Mercurio stun guns Hawx and then hits a suplex to a knee to his neck. Before he could capitalize, CJ goes to distract the model with her charms. As Mercurio wants to find out more, Dumas comes from behind and covers Hawx for the one, two, and three.
Your Winner via Pinfall, and Still Better than Criss Angel: “Magic” Jake Dumas
After the Match, CJ raises Mercurio’s hand in victory, until Dumas directs her to raise his hand. He and Mercurio continue to bicker and this still goes on as the show rolls to the credits.
NWA USA - 04/29/2023
Final Thoughts:
Kylie Paige is showing lots of promise, and Sierra looks like she can hang with the best of them as well. The three-way match served more as a way to forward the feud between Dumas and Mercurio. Of course, it would be outstanding if they were paired just in time for The Crockett Cup, but that’s my opinion.
For now, see ya next Saturday.
