Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond the author’s control, this will be an abbreviated report of AEW Rampage from Austin, TX. The results of the matches that took place were the following:
Jon Moxley vs. Konosuke Takeshita
- Both men had a hard-hitting affair, and Takeshita took it to another level by facing Moxley again. Mox locked in the bulldog choke, and while Takeshita did not tap out, he did pass out and the ref called it for Moxley
- After the match, “Hangman” Adam Page came out on the mic. While he said he wasn’t medically cleared, he said that should absolve him of taking Mox out, and they brawled again. Clearly, things are far from over with both men in this feud.
Powerhouse Hobbs had another video package. Moving along, now.
Regina di Wave Championship: Hikaru Shida(c) vs. The Bunny (with Penelope Ford)
- Excalibur noted that Shida claimed the title from the Pro Wrestling Wave joshi puroresu promotion based out of Japan during their 14th-anniversary show. Whoever wins this match will go on to face Jamie Hayter for the AEW Women’s title.
- The Bunny and Ford tried to utilize their numbers, but Shida managed to turn the tables and then delivered the Katana spinning kick to The Bunny.
- After the match, Jamie Hayter came out to stare Shida down.
Lee Moriarty and Big Bill (with Stokely Carmichael) vs. Clayton Bloodstone and Izzy James
- So W. Morrissey is now “Big Bill.” Kinda odd, since “Big W” might’ve been better, but whatever.
- This was a glorified AEW DARK squash match that saw Bill get the chokeslam for the pin and the win.
Lexi Nair spoke to Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler of FTR about the challenge The Briscoe Brothers set out for Final Battle this Saturday, Dec. 10th. They agreed to the Double Dog Collar match, and expect this to be a bloody affair between all four men.
Excalibur went over the card for Final Battle, and next week’s Winter is Coming event for AEW Dynamite.
AEW All-Atlantic Championship: Orange Cassidy(c) vs. Trent Seven
- Kip Sabian and Penelope Ford brought out the former NXT UK Tag Team Champion, who apparently is now signed with AEW after the purging of NXT UK talent.
- There was a nice mustache grooming moment between Cassidy and Seven before they went to town and Seven really showcased his British Strong Style throughout the match.
- Near the end, The Butcher and The Blade came out to disrupt the match, but Best Friends and Danhausen cut them off at the pass.
- Seven attempted a Burning Hammer finisher, but as usual, Cassidy escaped to nail the Beach Break and then the Orange Punch for the one, two, and three to retain the championship.
- Seven, Sabian, and Ford ganged up on Cassidy after the match but Dustin Rhodes came out to make the save, and he and Cassidy celebrated in the ring afterward.
