A press release was sent out by AEW on Friday night — while WWE’s Smackdown and Impact’s Bound For Glory shows were going on — announcing that Jon Moxley had signed a new deal with the company.

Moxley (Jonathan David Good) signed for another five years, bringing him into 2027.

“I love AEW and the spirit of both the company and its fans,” said Moxley in the press release. “I cherish our shared passion for the sport of professional wrestling, and I’m going to dedicate everything I have in mind, body and spirit to helping AEW be the best it can be going forward.”

AEW CEO, GM and Head of Creative Tony Khan also commented:

Jon Moxley is on the best run of his already legendary career, and this five-year extension ensures that he was not only here for AEW’s meteoric rise, but also remains a key part of the sustained success we’re witnessing, just days after the three-year anniversary show for ‘AEW: Dynamite’ …  Jon is a great world champion for us in his third reign. His wrestling mind is invaluable, and our roster is lucky to have the opportunity to utilize him as a mentor and a coach as we continue to build the stars of today and tomorrow.

The release also notes that Moxley’s workload will add “mentoring and coaching talent.”

The release also notes that Moxley will work “exclusively” for AEW and its partners, specifically mentioning New Japan Pro Wrestling.

Moxley had been in demand on the indy circuit, and had memorable runs in Game Changer Wrestling, among other promotions. This deal appears to end those in-ring opportunities.

The AEW World champion had taken time off in November 2021 — just after the release of his book, Mox, to enter rehab. He is married Renee Paquette (Renee Young in WWE) and they have one daughter, Nora.
