Expo Lucha took place over two days, June 11-12, 2022, in Philadelphia, at the famed 2300 Arena. It was exactly what you’d think — lots and lots of lucha, luchadors, luchadoras, masks, matches, and much, much more. It was the third Expo Lucha produced by Masked Republic.

Two of SlamWrestling.net’s best photographers, George Tahinos and Christine Coons, were out at the event, and we combined their great photos into this single gallery. Like lucha libre action, it was tough to identify everything that went on!

“There weren’t many differences aside from the international language barrier which didn’t really affect the expo,” noted Christine. “The Q&A panel with the luchadores was translated by Masked Republic co-owner Ruben Zamora. During the meet and greets, the fans and wrestlers were able to reciprocate mutual respect and buy and sell merchandise. Staff and other attendees offered assistance with translations. In the ring, the mic work was translated by the action that followed.”

Her husband, Mike Coons, quipped, “The fans and wrestlers wanted to wear masks instead of being required to.”

There a number of matches, including Saturday night’s Under the Influence of Lucha Libre PPV, and Sunday’s Legends of Lucha Libre show.
