Rampage: Thanks for lumberjacks, TK

Before we get things started there is something I need to say before we go any further.

Before there is any resentment or hard feelings I would like to make one thing very clear. I would just like to take this moment and personally thank president, and CEO of the All Elite Wrestling, Tony Khan, for paying for all the lumberjacks who participated in tonight’s Rampage main event.

Thank you, TK. Your contribution to tonight’s broadcast was very much appreciated.

Full Gear airs tomorrow night so this edition of Rampage wraps up some of those loose ends before the big show and gasses up that hype machine.

Even though they both stated the lumberjack match would be their end of their hostilities, I very much doubt we have seen the end of the bad blood between Orange Cassidy and Matt Hardy.

The devious Hardy tips the balance in his favour as soon as the bell rings. He turns to all of the lumberjacks (and the few lumberjills) surrounding the ring offering $20,000 to the first person who knocks out Orange Cassidy. The heel lumberjacks immediately turn on the faces on the floor attacking them.

That is the last straw for Cassidy. He storms across the ring raining down haymakers on Hardy. Hardy throws Cassidy to the floor. Cassidy slides back into the ring after fighting off two lumberjacks. Hardy sends him back outside. Isiah Kassidy mocks Cassidy as The Blade sneaks up from behind slamming Cassidy’s taped ribs into the ringside barricade twice. Taz reminds us that even cracked ribs take a long time to heal. The Blade rolls Cassidy back into the ring to an awaiting Hardy. A neckbreaker and two leg drops score Matt a two count on Cassidy. Hardy smashes Cassidy’s head in each turnbuckle pad in one of the corners.

The Best Friends cannot stand seeing the lumberjacks swarm Cassidy again. They dive into the ring and both leap onto the lumberjacks. Cassidy ducks Hardy and then flies onto the lumberjacks on the other side of the ring. Cassidy whips Hardy to the floor. The Best Friends return to the ring giving Cassidy a boost so he can jump on Hardy and all the lumberjacks on the floor.

Cassidy nails Hardy with a crossbody in the ring and Hardy rolls around on the mat pretending his nose has been broken. Hardy lures in Cassidy slamming him with a side effect for a two count. A tornado DDT puts Hardy down. Kassidy shoves Cassidy off the top rope. Cassidy guillotines himself on the top rope as he falls. With the official is distracted, The Blade punches Cassidy with a pair of brass knuckles. Hardy pins Cassidy for the win.

As Hardy locks Cassidy in his Leach submission move his minions KO the Best Friends with the brass knuckles. The Bunny borrows them from her hubby The Blade. She punches Kris Statlander sending her to Dreamland.

Rampage also saw Adam Cole and Bobby Fish reunite in the ring after Fish’s match against Jungle Boy. Fish focused his attack on the arm and back of Jungle Boy softening him up for his match against Cole and The Young Bucks at Full Gear. Jungle Boy though pushed though the pain forcing Fish to tap out to the Snare Trap.
Cole ran down to the ring. He and Jungle Boy traded fists. Fish kicked Jungle Boy from behind. Cole and Fish put the boots to Jungle Boy and then shared a hug in the middle of the ring.

An undisputed reunion. Courtesy: AEW.

Cole pulled out two steel chairs from under the ring. Before the heels could execute a Conchairto on Jungle Boy, Christian Cage and Luchasaurus hit the ring. Cole split the scene. Christian Cage spiked Fish with his Kill Switch.

Still, we celebrate the partial Undisputed reunion with an oldie but a goodie from Ireland’s own Thin Lizzy.

A prelude of things to come? Courtesy: AEW.

The Young Bucks and Adam Cole are cutting a promo backstage. “Hangman” Adam Page interrupts. He demands to speak to the Bucks alone. Cole gets in Page’s face. The Bucks talk Cole down. He leaves in a huff. Page apologizes for ditching on the Bucks. They both cost each other shots at big time gold in AEW. In his mind, they are even now.

“So, Saturday, if you so much as lay a hand on me I sweat to God I will ruin you!” Page warns.

Santana Garrett versus Jade Cargill

Mark Sterling has a cake at ringside to celebrate Cargill’s one year anniversary in AEW. Red Velvet happens to be at ringside taking in the action. Cargill makes short work of Garrett. She even takes time to bicker with Velvet on the floor. Velvet has to be held back. After the match, Sterling presents the cake to Cargill. Velvet spears Cargill and pushes the cake into Sterling’s face. Cargill and Velvet brawl as officials do their best to separate them.

Winner: Jade Cargill

Dante Martin versus Ariya Daivari

Decisions. Decisions. Courtesy: AEW.

Two hometown boys put on a really great match. Martin pins Daivari with a double springboard crossbody. Before Martin can leave the ring, Powerhouse Hobbs and Hook deliver a contract to Martin. Taz wants to sign him. An astounded Martin stares at the contract but doesn’t give his answer.

Summary

A decent show that accomplished everything it set out to do. Good to see some angles play themselves out instead of just random matches on a Friday night.
