It is Impact’s resident masterful madman versus AEW’s meticulous mechanic. Kenny Omega puts the Impact World Championship on the line against Sami Callihan at Slammiversary tonight. Watch out though. That Ultimate X match might just steal the show. Here are our predictions and prognostications.

Kenny Omega (c) vs. Sami Callihan –  Impact World Championship Match

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

They can end this “feud” any time. It really hasn’t amounted to very much. Putting the belt on Sami would be a welcome change at Impact and perhaps move them more into the ECW slot. Winner: Sami Callihan

Since the match is no disqualification, I can see the Good Brothers getting involved and Kenny keeping the Impact title. I don’t think this is the end of the Kenny Impact storyline. Winner: Kenny Omega

Omega is no stranger to hardcore matches (embarrassingly lame non-explosions, notwithstanding), so he should be able to put on a good match in Sami’s preferred genre. The storyline here has been that Sami is the unlikely hero for Impact, and I think with fans returning to the building, having him fulfill that destiny in front of his home crowd would be the right way to do it. I can see the Good Brothers trying to interfere, but it backfires or is thwarted by some other AEW stars (Dark Order, perhaps?), allowing Sami to get the win. Winner: Sami Callihan

Ultimate X match for the Impact X Division Championship

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

This match will just prove once again that what it doesn’t have in star power, Impact makes up for in great technical skill and matches. I have a feeling this will definitely be a Match of the Year candidate and not one to miss. It is time for Ace Austin or Rohit Raju to ascend. Either winning would make me very happy.  Winner: Rohit Raju.

This should probably be one of the most exciting matches of the night, but I don’t see Josh Alexander’s reign ending anytime soon. Winner: Josh Alexander

Bob Kapur

Senior Editor

Josh Alexander has said he wants to bring headlining prestige back to the X Division, and so far he’s accomplished that. As long as he doesn’t bring back the infamous Elevation X! I think he should retain and then ultimately use Option C to challenge Sami. This one should be stellar . Winner: Josh Alexander

Chris Sabin vs. Moose

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

Not really invested in this one. Moose is on the loose and Sabin will be crushed as Moose is heading for a war with Sami, who will be the new Impact champ. Winner: Moose

What should be a very competitive and entertaining match will probably end up with the newly re-signed Moose continuing his push towards the hood. Winner: Moose

Bob Kapur

As Slammiversary is supposed to be the celebration of Impact’s longevity, the sentimental choice here would be Sabin, one of the company’s longest-tenured stars. But the right move would be to keep Moose as strong as possible. What I think would be interesting is for “Cowboy” James Storm to return, and then turn on Sabin, setting up a feud between those two. And putting Moose in line for a feud with Callihan. Winner: Moose

Violent By Design vs. Rich Swann and Willie Mack vs. TJP and Fallah Bahh vs. The Good Brothers

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

This should be a good match but I don’t see the Violent crew dropping those belts any time soon. Winners: Violent By Design.

Violent by Design has been steamrolling the competition and I don’t see that stopping anytime soon. It was reported late that TJ P will not be involved in the match, curious to see who will replace him. Winners: VBD

With the news that TJP is out of the match for undisclosed reasons, this may be a good match to bring in a surprise – possibly a recent WWE departee whose 90-day non-compete clause has expired? Or else they’ll just go with the customary seat-filler, Suicide. Either way, it won’t matter. Because nobody’s beating VBD for some time. Winners: Violent By Design

Fire ‘N Flava (Kiera Hogan and Tasha Steelz) (c) vs. Havok and Rosemary –  Impact Knockouts Tag Team Championship

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

Come on. Rosemary and Havok as champs would be so much fun. Impact, you must and will do this. Winners: Rosemary and Havok.

Although they are my favorite thing in wrestling right now, next to Swinger‘s palace, I don’t see Hogan and Tasha getting away from this newly formed version of Decay with James Mitchell. Winner: Havok and Rosemary

Bob Kapur

I really enjoy Fire N Flava as champs, but I think it may be a good time to shake things up a bit with some new champs. And the new pairing of Rosemary and Havok is a good way to use both of them, since they’ve kind of been stagnant as of late. Winners: Rosemary and Havok

Eddie Edwards vs. W. Morrissey

John Powell

Editor-in-Chief

They will tear down the house for sure. Morrisey though needs the win to boost his profile in Impact. Winner: W. Morrissey.

Dr. Colossus

Part of me thinks this will be a decisive victory for Morrissey, the other part of me thinks he will eliminate Eddie Edwards either before the match or early in the match, and somebody new may debut in this segment. Winner: Morrisey

Bob Kapur

W. Morrissey has been impressive since coming to Impact with his new angry persona. A big win here will keep his momentum rolling and is probably the better choice. That said, I could see this one end in a non-finish, so they can stretch this one out longer. Winner: No contest

Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. ??? – Knockouts Championship Match

Several different talent have been teased for the spot, I am personally hoping it’s Ruby Soho, formally Ruby Riott. I expect whoever debuts to dethrone Deonna. Winner: mystery Knockout

Bob Kapur

On Thursday, they teased that Purrazzo’s opponent could be any one of a number of recent WWE departees, dropping not-so-veiled hints of it being Laurel Van Ness, either of the Iiconics, or Mickie James. I think Mickie makes the most sense here, and if it’s her, she wins. There is also a possibility that those were only teases, and it’s actually going to be Taylor Wilde who returned to the company earlier this year and then disappeared. If it’s her, then I think Purrazzo wins. But for the purposes of this countdown, I’m going for some Hardcore Country. Winner: Mickie James

Deonna Purrazzo (c) vs. ??? – Knockouts Championship Match

With all roads leading to the return of Chelsea Green, a.k.a. Laurel Van Ness, she claims her wrist is still broken and she won’t be there. Probably a red herring. Big victory for Cardona and his fiancée. Winners: Cardona and ?

Bob Kapur

The only interesting thing here will be who Matt Cardona’s surprise partner will be. The natural choice is Laurel Van Ness (aka Chelsea Green, aka his real-life fiancee). But wouldn’t it be neat to see Jessamyn Duke show up instead? That would really shake things up. No matter who it is, they win. Winners: Matt Cardona and TBD
