Countdown to WrestleMania 2021: Night One

It is time for some new blood to take over. Belair has been on a roll and this would be the perfect reward for all of her hard work and growth in NXT and now the main roster. Winner: Bianca Belair

This should be a pretty good match if given enough time.  Belair should triumph in the end thus securing her first WWE title reign.

Maybe it’s just me, but I really don’t find Bianca to be a likeable babyface – her attitude is just too smug for my liking. It will be interesting to see how the live crowd responds to her when she captures the championship. Winner: Bianca Belair

No idea why the WWE would destroy their strongest stable The Hurt Business…unless they are planning on making them stronger. It is a shame that Lashley’s reign will end but Drew is the WWE’s golden boy right now. Winner: Drew McIntyre.

Lashley’s WWE Championship run is long overdue.  Regardless as much as much as I might want Lashley to retain the storyline momentum is setup for McIntyre to regain the WWE Title at WrestleMania.

After Drew wasn’t able to get the live crowd response for his big win last year, the natural story would be for him to get it here. But I think that would be counterproductive. A win here – and a lengthy title reign – would help cement Bobby Lashley as a strong champion and elevate the title. I think they go for long-term benefit here. Winner: Bobby Lashley

Drew McIntyre wins, after Bobby can’t pull Drew’s sword from the entrance.

Bad Bunny: -850. The Miz: +450. Winner: Bad Bunny.

It would be a crime if Bad Bunny got one over on The Miz. One could hope for a murky decision but knowing the WWE…Winner: Bad Bunny (via shenanigans).

This bout should be full of all sorts of shenanigans with Priest coming into the ring in the end to interfere in order to help Bad Bunny secure the victory.

Other than when they were in a battle royal, I don’t think a celebrity has ever lost in a WrestleMania match. I don’t see it happening here either. Winners: Damien Priest and Bad Bunny

There’s no way Bad Bunny should be beating anyone. Winners: The Miz and John Morrison

There is just something appealing about Styles and Omos carrying around the titles and The New Day can suffer a loss without any damage to their status but… Winners: The New Day.

Styles and Omos need the victory here so look for them to get an underhanded win to become the new RAW Tag Team Champions.

This is going to be a squash. Omos has been built up like a big monster, and I think that continues here as he and AJ cruise to a win. Winners: AJ Styles and Omos

Shane McMahon: +300. Braun Strowman: -500. Winner: Braun Strowman.

This reminds me of The Undertaker versus Shane McMahon from WrestleMania 32. I don’t see it ending any differently as Strowman must get his revenge after all he has suffered at the hands of McMahon. Winner: Braun Strowman.

This has a similar feel to Shane McMahon’s run against The Miz and others from a few years ago where he kept getting victory after victory.  The fan backlash to that resulted in McMahon being removed from TV.  Would WWE go down this path again and have Strowman lose at WrestleMania?  Sadly I’m going to see ‘yes’ and McMahon will win after interference and taking a crazy bump.

The build-up for this one may have been the worst one for any of the matches this weekend. And I expect the match won’t be that great either. The saving grace might be when Shane McMahon jumps from something high — I’m hoping it will be the pirate ship. Winner: Braun Strowman

Braun Strowman will win after hitting Shane with Elias like he’s a chair.

I’ excited about this one.  Strowman will impress us all again and take the win. Winner: Braun Strowman

Cesaro: -200. Seth Rollins: +150. Winner: Cesaro.

This could go either way. Rollins defeats Cesaro because he needs to climb back to the top of the roster. Winner: Seth Rollins.

If WWE are serious about giving Cesaro a chance at being a main event player he should get the win at WrestleMania.  Yet I have a nagging doubt it will be The Architect getting his hand raised at the end of this bout.

I think this one is going to be completely about fan service, with them counting along while Cesaro gets 37 rotations of the Giant Swing. He’ll end up losing the match, but the moment will be fun. Winner: Seth Rollins

With all the history between Lana and Jax it would make sense that Lana and Naomi come out on top. Winners: Lana and Naomi.

After the recent promo by Natalya the logical follow through would be for the Queen of Harts & Tamina to win and move on to night 2 of WrestleMania.  Yet, if you are looking for a dark horse to win this bout it might be Lana & Naomi who have had an extended series of matches against Jax & Baszler.

I think this would be the perfect opportunity to correct a major error, and have Billie Kaye announce that she’s finally found the right partner – and out comes Peyton Royce to reunite the Iiconics. Winner: The Iiconics

Tamina and Natayla win in order to continue their feud with Shayna and Nia. Winners: Natalya and Tamina
