NJPW rivalries get ugly

We are not sure if it is the frustration over the lockdown situation in Japan or if people are ingesting loads of unagi there lately but all of the factions in NJPW are not only on a heightened state of alert but they are tearing into each like never before.

On night three of the New Beginning in Hiroshima tour a match brought into focus two big feuds with Kazuchika Okada and Evil not getting along while Jay White and Tomohiro Ishii have ‘unfriended” each other, not that they were buddies to begin with.

Kevin Kelly refuses to “too sweet” Evil as he comes out from behind the curtain. Kelly thinks it will just bring down the status of the group if he were to do so.

Jay White gets his own entrance again separating himself from his Bullet Club pals. Gedo is all smiles now that his meal ticket has rejoined NJPW.

With Bullet Club already in the ring, Ishii dives into a hornet’s nest. Evil, White and Yujiro Takahashi beat him down before Chaos can come to the rescue. The introductions are scrapped as the two sides start brawling. Switchblade slides in and out of the ring making Ishii chase him around and around. When Ishii finally catches up with White, he shoves him. White slaps him in the face. Ishii takes a swing at White. White ducks slapping him in the face yet again.

Ishii whips White to the floor. Yano and Okada are waiting to bid him good day with a healthy beating. Yujiro throws up his hands in frustration.

Gedo distracts Ishii so that White can give him an Dragon Screw Leg Whip in the ropes as White and Ishii continue to monopolize the entire match. Even when White tags Yujiro in Ishii clambers out of the ring to follow White. Evil steps in the way tearing at Ishii’s face.

“Ishii doesn’t care about this match. He just wants revenge,” says Kelly.

Adding to Evil’s damage, White chokes out the Stone Pit Bull with a microphone cable. Still unable to tag out Ishii is whipped into the exposed turnbuckle courtesy of Evil and Dick Togo. White tags in slinging Ishii throat-first into the missing buckle for a two count.

“That was three!” yells White at the referee.

Ishii finally makes it to his corner for the hot-tag to Okada. Okada is distracted by Dick Togo. Evil throws Okada out of the ring and into the steel barricade twice.

“My phone is on the desk here and my son just called me. Now, that’s funny,” says Kelly.

Dick Togo holds Yano by the hair on the apron as Yujiro lays some shots in. Yano sends Yujiro crashing into Togo, hits the low-blow and scores the pin for Chaos.

In the post-match extracurricular activities the time keeper smashes the bell furiously as Ishii whips White into the steel barricade and Evil hits Okada with a steel chair in the bread basket.

Hiroki Goto gets up from his spot at the commentator’s desk. As Ishii holds White, Goto punches him. Goto decides to run around the barrier and pummel White some more for what he did to Chaos last night.

Once Chaos clears out an angry White just unloads on the Young Lions at ringside with a steel chair.

In the match between Suzuki-gun and Bullet Club, Tama Tonga pissed off Taichi by bringing what appeared to be the Iron Glove in a black bag to the ring. Taichi lost it on Tonga as he hugged the bag close. That brought Loa and Zack Sabre Jr. into the fray and soon everyone was fussing and fighting. The bell hadn’t even rung yet.

Tonga and Taichi have a tug of war over the bag in the ring. The official doesn’t know what to do or what to make of things.

Taichi finally wrestles the bag out of Tonga’s hands and the crowd claps. When Taichi opens the bag a roll of toilet paper falls out so the joke is on Taichi. The roll has the word “baka” written on it which means “fool” or “idiot” in Japanese. You learn something new every day. Tonga laughs and laughs. When Taichi comes after him Tonga tags out and flees the ring. Tonga renters the ring with the toilet paper roll and punches Desperado in the face with it.

Phantasmo eventually wins the match for Bullet Club by sending Douki to Dreamland with his Sudden Death kick. As soon as the bell rings, Jado is in the ring smacking Douki with his kendo stick.
