G1 Climax Night Three brings a three-way tie

After night three of the G1 Climax 30 tournament Taichi, Will Opreay and Jay White now sit at the top of A Block.

Taichi defeated his pal and the leader of Suzuki-gun, Minoru Suzuki, in a really ugly match that resembled more of a street fight than a wrestling bout. Will Ospreay defeated his Chaos partner Tomohiro Ishii and in what could be seen as an upset of sorts, Jay White beat Kota Ibushi.

White and Ibushi’s match began in an odd way with White getting on the microphone encouraging the crowd to cheer Ibushi’s name stating that all they could do was clap not cheer.

White flipped things in his favour by giving Ibushi a knee drop on the apron. He also draped the injured knee over the apron smashing it with elbow drop after elbow drop.

Ibushi comes close to tapping out to a figure four but somehow finds the fortitude to break the hold. White has to drag a stumbling Ibushi back to his feet. Funnily enough, Ibushi is able to mow over White with a running knee smash and a sit-out powerbomb with no problem at all.

White grabs onto Red Shoes with all of his might. Ibushi pulls him off Red Shoes and back to the middle of the ring. Ibushi doesn’t sell two stiff forearms from White. One of his though puts White down. Gedo distracts Red Shoes. White low-blows Ibushi. Gedo jumps up on the apron again. Ibushi kicks him in the head. White flattens Ibushi with Blade Runner for the win.

The winner of the G1 Climax tournament is rewarded with a contact for an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match at the Wrestle Kingdom Tokyo Dome show on January 4th. Often the winner has been forced to, made to or opts to put that contact on the line before Wrestle Kingdom.

G1 CLIMAX 30 NIGHT THREE RESULTS

Yuya Uemura Vs Gabriel Kidd

Another impressive outing for both Kidd and Uemura, In fact it might be time to move Kidd up to the main roster. Kidd pins Uemura with a great double underhook suplex slam.

Winner: Gabriel Kidd

Jeff Cobb versus Shingo Takagi – G1 CLIMAX 30 – A BLOCK TOURNAMENT MATCH

Jeff Cobb is all smiles after his win. Courtesy: NJPW.

Two absolute beasts lock horns. Cobb is just two steps ahead of Takagi the entire match. Man, what’s up with Takagi? He is off his game for sure since losing the Never Openweight Championship to Suzuki. Cobb kicks out of a Pumping Bomber and pins Takagi with Tour of the Islands.

Winner: Jeff Cobb

Kazuchika Okada versus Yujiro Takahashi – G1 CLIMAX 30 – A BLOCK TOURNAMENT MATCH

Okada locks on the Cobra Clutch. Courtesy: NJPW.

Once again Okada and the troublesome member of Bullet Club go to war. Yujiro is showing more ring savvy than he previously has. Yujiro submits to the Cobra Clutch.

Winner: Kazuchika Okada

Minoru Suzuki versus Taichi – G1 CLIMAX 30 – A BLOCK TOURNAMENT MATCH

The leader and one of the members of Suzuki-gun face-off before the bell even rings grabbing each other by the throat, raking each other’s eyes. It continues on and on. The official tries to get between them and is shoved out of the ring. Taichi and Suzuki swing chairs at each other in the middle of the ring. Suzuki belts Taichi with his chair twice on the floor. He then chokes him out with it. If this is how Suzuki treats his friends and allies I would hate to see how he treats his family. Taichi does the same to Suzuki but with an electrical cable. Taichi eventually scores the win by reversing a Gotch Style Piledriver into Black Mephisto.

Winner: Taichi

Tomohiro Ishii versus Will Ospreay – G1 CLIMAX 30 – A BLOCK TOURNAMENT MATCH

Ospreay proves what he is made of in this bout with his Chaos stablemate and powerhouse Ishii. A Hidden Blade and Stormbreaker pins Ishii.

Winner: Will Ospreay

Kota Ibushi versus Jay White – G1 CLIMAX 30 – A BLOCK TOURNAMENT MATCH

Winner: Jay White
