Alberto Del Rio has been arrested and charged by San Antonio police with sexual assault.
A victim contacted local police claiming that Jose A. Rodriguez (Del Rio) sexually assaulted her, slapped her in the head numerous times and demanded she put on a dress and dance for him and if she didn’t, he would take her son and “drop him in the middle of the road somewhere”.
Del Rio has been charged with one count of sexual assault and one count of simple assault. His bail has been set at $5,000.
In 2017, Del Rio had a dispute while dating WWE superstar Paige at the Orlando International Airport that police categorized as domestic violence battery. At the time, Paige claimed she and Del Rio had an argument. She threw a drink in his face. He followed her out of the bar earning the attention of law enforcement officials there.
Authorities didn’t end up charging Paige as Del Rio wouldn’t press charges.
Del Rio was stripped of the World Heavyweight Championship by Impact Wrestling and suspended over the incident. He was later fired for no-showing the Lucha Underground vs Impact Wrestling event.
In 2014, Del Rio was fired by the WWE for a backstage incident in which he had an altercation with an employee over a racist joke. Del Rio was rehired in 2015 only to be suspended for thirty days in August 2016 for violating their wellness policy. A month later, he asked and was given his release by the WWE.
While in the WWE, Del Rio won the WWE Championship, the World Heavyweight Championship and the WWE United States Championship twice.
