It’s now become tradition from NXT to run a live event before on the night before one of the big four pay-per-views. Tonight, that tradition continues with NXT Takeover: San Antonio. All NXT titles are on the line tonight, with Shinsuke Nakamura and Bobby Roode headlining the main event for the NXT title. ile Asuka looks to retain her NEXT Women’s title and remain undefeated since her debut.
Match #1 – Tye Dillinger vs. Eric Young w/Alexander Wolfe and Killian Dain
Young offers Dillinger one more chance to accept the offer to join Sanity. Dillinger emphatically answers by tossing Sawyer Fulton’s old jacket in Young’s face and following with a shot to the jaw. Young rolls to the outside to confer with his troops. Young tosses Tye out of the ring, but Dillinger quickly recovers to avoid the attack from the rest of Sanity. Dillinger unloads in the corner with mounted punches, but Young cuts him off with a vicious eye rake. Dillinger falls to the outside and is crushed by Dain. Young rolls him into the ring and drops an elbow from the top rope. Dillinger fights out of the corner, but Young blocks the superplex and head butts him to the mat. Young goes for another elbow drop, but Dillinger drop kicks him big right. Tye fires back, hitting a back body drop and then nearly whipping Young out of the ring. Dillinger catches him on the top turnbuckle and drops him with a belly to belly suplex. Young kicks out.

Dillinger stomps away at Young in the corner and calls for the Tye breaker. Wolfe jumps to out of the sky. Both men trade blows in the middle of the ring, until Young drops Tye with a the apron and Tye brings him in. He drops Wolfe with the Tye Breaker and then catches Dain with a superkick. He hits Young with the Tye Breaker, but Wolfe is able to save Young by putting his foot on the rope. A plancha from Tye takes out all of Sanity. Dillinger goes up top and hits a cross body, but Young rolls through. Young follows with a neck breaker and covers to get the win.

Samoa Joe is sitting in the front row, tonight, since he has nothing better to do, or maybe he’s just resting for tomorrow night?
Match #2 – Andrade “Cien” Almas vs. Roderick Strong

Almas is looking for some retribution in this match, as Strong is the one who eliminated him in the number one contenders match. The two stars jockey for position until Almas is whipped into the ropes, but he takes that as an opportunity to relax. Andrade beats strong into the corner and then slaps him hard across the face. Almas locks in an armbar over the ropes and breaks it before the five count. Strong catches Almas in the corner, but gets kicked in the head for his trouble. Almas locks in another arm bar, but Strong is able to fight out. Strong rolls away from the double knees and answers with two big kicks. Strong with a running knee in the corner and follows with a drop kick. Strong pulls Almas off the top turnbuckle and hits a back breaker. Almas with a German suplex into a bridge, but Strong kicks out.
Almas is getting frustrated that he can’t put Strong away and unleashes a flurry of elbows. A kicks sends Strong into the corner, but Roddy stops him with a knee of his own. Almas catches Strong in double arm bar, but Strong is able to get a foot on the rope to break the hold. Almas goes up top, again, and Strong catches him, hit a back breaker on the top turnbuckle. Almas kicks out of the pin.
Strong fights out of the DDT, but then gets hip tossed into the corner. Strong avoids the double knees, but Almas knocks him back and connects with the knees. Strong fights out of the hammerlock DDT and connects with a Sick Kick. He covers and gets the pin.

Match #3 – The Authors of Pain (challengers) w/Paul Ellering vs. D.I.Y. (champions) – NXT Tag Team Title Match
Ellering has to hold his team back as Gargano and Ciampa enter the ring. Ciampa ducks a clothesline at the sound of the bell, but Razar was make a line for the Gargano in the corner. Tommaso fight off a powerbomb, but gets a clubbing blow across the back for his trouble. Gargano gets the tag, but Razar swats him away as he tries a spear through the ropes. Akam gets the tag and all four men are in the ring. D.I.Y. fights them off and sends Akam and Razar to the floor. Gargano and Ciampa take the fight to the floor and the Authors have to recover. Gargano’s attempt at a DDT gets blocked and his is tossed out of the ring into the security barrier. Akam picks him up and dumps him back into the ring.
Johhny wrestling gets stomped into corner. Razar get shim up in a standing back breaker. Gargano breaks out, but can’t get to his corner, even an enziguri can’t break the grip. Ciampa gets the tag and takes down Razar from the top rope. Akam runs in and Ciampa takes them both on, hitting two German suplexes. A running knee gets Ciampa a pin, but Akam kicks out. Two boots to the face can’t take down Akam and Ciampa runs into a clothesline. Gargano makes a tag the two double spear Akam. Ciampa tags in, but Akam fights out of the corner and tags in Razar, who nearly gets a pin after a sit out powerbomb. Gargano slides in the break up the Last Chapter with a super kick. Ciampa locks in a arm bar on Akam, while Gargano has Razar in a cross face. Razar powers up and drops Gargano on his partner to break the hold.
All four men are down in the ring, when they start trading shots. D.IY. hit the AoP with knees, but Razar and Akam recover to pick up both men and hit the super collider. Ciampa gets hit with the Last Chapter. Akam covers and gets the win.

Corey Graves and the crew are recapping the last match, when Seth Rollins leaps into the ring and calls out Triple H, who walks out on stage. Rollins is looking for a fight, but instead Hunter calls out security to remove him from the ring. Security is unsuccessful as Rollins fights them off and heads to the back. The numbers of guards finally over take him on the ramp.
Match #4 – Peyton Royce (challenger) vs. Billie Kay (challenger) vs. Nikki Cross (challenger) vs. Asuka (champion) – NXT Women’s Title Fatal Four Way Match
Billie and Peyton quickly slide out of the ring at the sound of the bell to leave Asuka and Nikki to go at it. At the first sign of opportunity the two pounce back in the ring and attack. Cross is sent to the floor, but Asuka is able to hit a double bulldog. Royce and Kay then take a double German suplex from Asuka. Cross is waiting, though, and the two brawl. A hip attack from Asuks keep Royce and Kay out of the ring. Cross slams Asuka to the mat, but can’t get the pin. A low bridge sends Nikki to the floor, but she is able to catch Asuka and plants her with a neck breaker from the apron. Cross climbs the turnbuckle and takes out Peyton and Billie with a flying cross body.

Kay and Royce double team Cross on the outside, whipping her into the barrier on the ramp. The beat her up the ramp the stage, but Cross is able to fight out and heads to the announce table. Billie catches her and slams her face first on the table. Peyton and Billie get her up and suplex her through a table. The two leave Cross to handle Asuka. Royce delivers a big knee, but Asuka kicks out of the pin. Asuka kicks Kay in the head, but Royce hits her with the Widow’s Peak. Asuka kicks out, again. Asuka kicks Royce in the head and fights out Kay. Asuka delivers another kick to Peyton and covers her. Royce can’t kick out and Asuka gets the win.

Match #5 – Bobby Roode (challenger) vs. Shinsuke Nakamura (champion) – NXT Title Match
Both men circle the other the start the match, each trying to find an opening. Nakamura applies a wrist lock and Roode is taken to the mat. Roode counters with a headlock. Nakamura backs Roode into the ropes and the ref breaks the hold.
Nakamura and Roode taunt each other after the break. The two eventually lock up. Roode with a cheap shot after the ref tells Shinsuke to release him. Nakamura with a rolling take down, but Roode counters into a head scissors. Roode avoids a stomp and ducks a kick. Roode taunts Shinsuke again, but this time Nakamura kicks him in the gut. Roode goes down in the corner, but blocks good vibrations. Nakamura answers with a spin kick that sends Roode to the floor. Back in the ring, Nakamura is dumped off the top turnbuckle to the floor. Roode drives him into the ring steps, twice. Roode rolls Nakamura back into the ring, but can’t get the pin. He smashes Shinsuke into the turnbuckle and follows with a clothesline. Roode delivers a double axe handle from the top turnbuckle. Nakamura tries to fight out of a hold, only to get slammed to the mat. Roode drops a knee across the back of the neck. Nakamura is stomped into the corner and Roode uses his version of good vibrations. Nakamura rolls to the apron and is able to sucker Roode in and kick him in the face. Shinsuke follows with a running knee and then knee drop. Nakamura starts to feel it and down goes Roode in the corner. Shinsuke shows Roode how good vibrations is done. Roode avoids the running knee and hangs Nakamura on the top rope. The champ is able to get Roode up and delivers the knee to the midsection. He follows with an exploder suplex and waits for Roode to get up. He isn’t moving and Nakamura gets suckered in. Roode nearly gets the pin with a roll up and then hits a back stabber.
Nakamura runs into a spine buster, but still kicks out of a pinfall. Roode sets Nakamura up on the top turnbuckle. The champ fights him off and sends him face first into the mat. Shinsuke kicks Roode in the chest, but Roode gets a boot up to block the kinshasa. Roode pins and uses the ropes from leverage, but the ref catches him.
Roode chops Nakamura into the corner, only to get taunted. Shinsuke unloads on the challenger, kicking him in the back of the neck over the bottom rope. Nakamura goes for the arm bar, but can’t lock it in. The champ switches to a triangle hold. Roode is able to pick up Nakamura, but the champ rolls through and hits a sliding knee. Roode kicks out of the pin.
Roode rolls to the apron, only to have Nakamura hit him in the chest with a flying knee. Both men are down on the floor, with the champ nursing his knee. Roode is rolled into the ring and Nakamura connects with the kinshasa. The champ is down, too, and can’t make the pin. Roode is out cold. The ref calls for the medic and Nakamura is helped to the floor.
The champ re-enters the ring and Roode quickly hits him with the Glorious DDT. Nakamura kicks out. Roode locks in a half crab on the champs injured knee. Shinsuke tries to climb to the ropes and then kicks Roode in the head to break the hold. Roode hits another Glorious DDT and covers. Shinsuke can’t kickout and Booby Roode is your new NXT Champion.

Officials continue to check on Nakamura as Roode celebrated his win as the show goes off the air.
