O’Reilly taps Cole in the tacks at ROH Final Battle 2016

Tonight at ROH Final Battle 2016, Kyle O’Reilly gets his chance at revenge after chasing ROH World Champion Adam Cole all year long. The difference is that anything goes in the world title main event. No DQ for the world title tonight! Plus, The Young Bucks defend the ROH world Tag Team Championships against The Briscoes with the honor of being the best team in ROH history on the line as well. All that and more tonight at Final Battle!

The Motor City Machine Guns & Donovan Dijak (w/Prince Nana) vs. The Rebellion

King and Sabin exchange submissions to start and counters. Dijak in and Coleman trash talks into a tag. The Rebellion clear the opponent apron and work Dijak down. MCMG and Dijak come back and work Titus down. Elbow drop gets Dijak a nearfall. MCMG work Titus over and Dijak splashes him for Sabin to get a nearfall. Sabin taken out and worked against the barricade. King with a corkscrew plancha on Sabin for a nearfall back inside. Sabin worked down and he fights up to kick Titus away and get the hot tag to Dijak. Dijak clears the apron and lands a suplex throw on Titus. Coleman caught and tossed out on King. Chokebreaker off the top from Dijak gets a nearfall. Dijak with a flip dive and Feast Your Eyes on Titus gets a nearfall after King and Coleman break the pin. Finisher exchange puts everybody down. Dijak taken out outside and Shelley crotched up top. Sabin hit with a Sky Splitta and a frog splash from Titus.

“The Last Real Man” Silas Young (w/Beer City Bruiser) vs. Jushin Thunder Liger

Young with a knee to the midsection as Liger offers the Code of Honor. Young works Liger down in the corner and escapes the drop toehold by going outside. Liger misses kicks, but lands a cannonball off the apron. Chops against the post by Liger and Young moves to the apron on the other side of the ring as Liger comes in. Liger with a kick and he gets the surfboard stretch in. Dragon sleeper now applied and Young escapes by pulling the referee into the submission. Young works Liger down and tries to unmask him. Liger with chops, but the comeback stopped with a backbreaker for a nearfall by Young. Young works Liger down and kicks him out. Bruiser throws him against the barricade with the referee distracted and Young continues to work Liger down. Young moves to the apron and the Bruiser holds Young down as Liger attempts to suplex him inside. Young with nearfalls and Liger with a jawbreaker to get space. Shotei ducked and both dropped on a clothesline. Shotei in the corner and a hurricanrana off the top gets Liger a nearfall. Finisher attempts exchanged and Young gets a backbreaker and lariat combo for the nearfall. Young spits beer in the face of Liger and Liger fights back to land a brainbuster. Liger goes up top and Young meets him there. Liger drops him and Bruiser knocked off the apron. The distraction allows Young to get his knees up. Misery lands.

Cabana offers the Code of Honor and fakes the knee below the belt. Castle shakes hands and takes Cabana down. Gutwrenches and an open-handed strike drops Cabana. Cabana works Castle in the corner and tries a cradle, but Castle rolls through and peacocks as Cabana approaches. Cabana thrown outside and Castle struts. Cabana throws The Boys in and they lay down in front of the corner to allow Castle to sit up top. Missile dropkick lands for Castle and reset. Back suplex from Castle and he rides the back. Castle avoids Cabana in the corner and gets crotched on the second turnbuckle. Cabana works Castle down in the corner and lands chops. A Castle comeback with a clothesline and corner knee. Exploder suplex from Castle. Cabana goes for a corner knee and Castle catches him. Cabana sweeps the leg into the Billy Goat’s Curse. Castle gets the rope break. Cabana with a baseball slide outside and Castle with the spin on the apron into the hurricanrana. Deadlift German suplex inside from Castle gets a nearfall. Elbow from Cabana and a jackknife cover get a nearfall. Castle with a suplex and knees in the corner. Chicago Skyline up top blocked and Castle goes for Bang-A-Rang. Cabana falls out and rolls him for a nearfall. Castle catches him coming in with Bang-A-Rang.

The Addiction make their way out after Cody and Jay Lethal make their way to the ring. Kazarian says it is the biggest show of the deal and he asks if they thought The Addiction wouldn’t make their presence felt. Kaz says after what they went through at Ladder Wars, they can take the night off. Christopher Daniels says Cody is making his debut against the greatest Ring of Honor Champion of all-time and says Dusty Rhodes first inspired him in professional wrestling. Daniels says Ring of Honor needs men with the passion in their hearts for professional wrestling and says Cody has to go through men like Jay Lethal and The Addiction in ROH. Daniels says they will be guest commentators and tells the two to tear it up like he knows they can.

Jay Lethal and Cody hook up. 

Cody (w/Brandi Rhodes) vs. Jay Lethal

Lethal and Cody exchange submissions to feel each other out. Side headlock for Cody and shoulder tackle.followed by arm drags. Lethal cartwheels out of an arm drag for a dropkick. Lethal works Cody down in the corner and lands a backbreaker for a nearfall. Cody blocks suplexes from Lethal and counters into a delayed vertical front suplex. Cody works on the left arm. Disaster Kick misses and Lethal with a dropkick for a nearfall. Cody drops Lethal coming at him in the corner and goes back to the left arm. Lethal tosses Cody to the apron and Cody hit with a dropkick as he tries to skin the cat. Suicide dive from Lethal and another follows. Cody leapfrogs over the third on the apron and lands a springboard dropkick. Springboard axhandle smash off the top lands for Cody outside. Lethal and Cody butt heads inside and Cody lands the Disaster Kick. Strikes exchanged and Cody with clotheslines. Lethal with the Lethal Combination for a nearfall. Lethal with a torture rack backbreaker for a nearfall and Cody gets the American Nightmare. Lethal gets the rope break and runs Cody into the corner. Sunset flip out of the corner gets Cody a nearfall and lariat turns Lethal inside out for a nearfall. Lethal fights up and looks for Hail for the King. Cody meets him, but Lethal with a cutter. Hail to The King lands, but Cody with a crucifix for a nearfall. Lethal with kick combos and he looks for the Lethal Injection. Cody shoves Lethal into the referee. Low blow from Cody and the Cross Rhodes connects.

ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Championship: The Kingdom vs. Lio Rush, Jay White, & KUSHIDA

Rush Hour and frog splash land on Taven for a Rush nearfall. Taven escapes his Final Battle curse and The Kingdom regroup outside. White and O’Ryan in. O’Ryan with a shoulder tackle and White with an arm drag. Kushida works O’Ryan with kicks and Rush with an arm wrench and clothesline for a nearfall. Rush rolls O’Ryan up and Taven sneaks a tag. DDT on Rush and Marseglia clears the opponent corner. Rush stuck in the Kingdom corner. O’Ryan works Rush down and gets a suplex for a nearfall. Pump kick and spear combo get Taven a nearfall. Rush takes out Marseglia and Taven outside. Kushida brought in on the hot tag and O’Ryan gets hit with the house of fire offense. Hoverboard Lock sees O’Ryan get the rope break. Marseglia moonsaults into a legsweep and Kingdom again clear the opponent corner to get O’Ryan a nearfall. Taven and Marseglia take liberties in the corner as O’Ryan ties up the referee. Marseglia with a back suplex for a nearfall after he tags in. Kushida gets space with a hurricanrana, but Taven prevents the tag. Springboard back elbow gets Kushida out and hot tag made to White. White like a house of fire and he suplexes The Kingdom on top of each other in the corner. Head kick and uppercut combo land on Marseglia and White with a missile dropkick for a nearfall as Rush and Kushida cannonball on O’Ryan and Taven outside. White looks for the superplex and Marseglia punches out. Boston Crab in between the ropes and submissions exchanged on the top rope. Finisher exchange puts all down. Rush with kicks and suicide dives. Suicide dive exchange from both teams and Kushida goes up top with a swanton. Taven takes out the pile outside. Taven almost wins with Climax inside for a nearfall. Marseglia takes out the referee and the ring clears. Rush with kicks and O’Ryan with the cane outside. Powerbomb and backbreaker combo from Kingdom.

Scurll thrown out and Lee and Ospreay exchange counters. Flying counters exchanged early and Scurll again sent out. Scurll with a superkick that drops Ospreay on the floor and Lee with one on Scurll. Flip dive from Lee over the top. Lee and Scurll inside and Lee with a nearfall after knee lifts. Ospreay with a standing shooting star press on Lee. Scurll breaks it with a kick to the back of the head and lands a scoop slam against the ropes. Lariat nearfall for Scurll broken by Lee and he works both with chops. Lee taken out by Ospreay and Scurll and Scurll has his head superkicked into the top turnbuckle through the legs by Ospreay. Suplex into a powerbomb from Lee gets a nearfall on Ospreay. Springboard forearm on Scurll lands inside for Ospreay and a springboard shoting star press lands on Lee outside. Scurll mule kicks Ospreay out of the corner and Ospreay lands a twisting stunner. Ospreay caught in a Crossface Chickenwing and Lee breaks it up with a senton off the top. The three exchange and Ospreay with a springboard back heel kick on both. Corkscrew lands on the knees of Lee and broken by Scurll. Scurll breaks a finger of Lee and tries a Chickenwing. Ospreay with a tornado ax kick and springboard stunner on Lee. Ospreay thrown out and Scurll locks in the Chickenwing.

Mark Briscoe and Nick Jackson feel each other out to start and Mark with a slam to bring in Jay. Superkicks from The Young Bucks blocked and the two teams trade punches inside. Jay taken out outside and Mark hit with a superkick. The Young Bucks with a flip dive outside on The Briscoes. Mark and Jay with a big boot and STO combo on Nick for a nearfall. Mark works Nick in the corner and Nick rolls away to bring Matt in. Briscoes sent out by headscissors and dropkicks. Apron powerbombs on The Briscoes and suicide dives see The Briscoes run in and take them out with lariats. Suicide dives on The Young Bucks outside. Cactus Jack elbow from Mark on Matt outside get Jay a nearfall. Matt worked by The Briscoes in their corner. Springboard cutter out of the corner and Nick in like a house of fire on Mark. Springboard X-Factor inside on Mark and a tornado DDT outside on Jay. Nick rolls Mark up for a nearfall. Superkick on Mark and Jay with headbutts. The Bucks with Superkicks. Jay with a lariat that puts all four down. Matt and Jay exchange strikes and a swanton on Jay gets a nearfall broken by Mark. Superkick Dommsday device on Mark outside and More Bang for Your Buck gets a nearfall on Jay. Death Valley Driver from Jay inside on Matt after Mark takes out Nick outside. Doomsday Device blocked and Nick crotches Mark up top. Meltzer Driver blocked as Mark catches a cutter. Froggy Bow and Jay Driller kicked out of by Matt. Finishing sequences exchanged and a Meltzer Driver from the Young Bucks lands. Jay able to break the pin attempt for a nearfall. The Briscoes on their knees and The Young Bucks throw Superkick after Superkick after Superkick after Superkick.

Anything Goes for the ROH World Championship: Adam Cole (c) vs. Kyle O’Reilly

Forearm exchange turns into punches. Armbar attempt from O’Reilly sees Cole stomp the head to get out. O’Reilly to the apron and he locks in an armbar over the ropes. Cole drops him to the floor and gets tripped out. Cole sent into the barricade. O’Reilly runs into a pump kick, but he comes back with a belly-to-belly suplex. O’Reilly works Cole down inside and goes up top. Cole knocks him off the top and down to the floor. Cole works O’Reilly down in the corner inside and sends him into the turnbuckles chest-first. O’Reilly favors the shoulder and sent into the turnbuckles on his back. Cole taunts him and O’Reilly spits at him. O’Reilly with kicks and Cole sent out. O’Reilly dives off the apron and dives right into a shot with the title from Cole. O’Reilly busted open and Cole works him down back inside. O’Reilly pops back up after a back bodydrop and collapses outside. Cole brings out a trashcan and hits O’Reilly with the trashcan. Superkick on the head of O’Reilly in the trashcan. Chair across the back inside by Cole and O’Reilly taking them. O’Reilly works the comeback and lands a corner forearm. Armbreaker and a back suplex on the chair set up a kneebar for O’Reilly. Cole kicks the cut to get out and O’Reilly jumps back to an armbar. Cole gets the ropes and pulls himself out. Cole sat in a chair outside and O’Reilly with roundhouse kicks to the chest. Trashcan to the head and a dropkick off the apron smashes the trashcan into Cole.

Cole set on a table inside. He fights to the top rope and O’Reilly moves out to get behind Cole. Back suplex through the table gets a nearfall. O’Reilly takes Cole to the apron and the two exchange low blows. Guillotine choke in for O’Reilly and Cole and O’Reilly fall through the table outside. Cole busted open and O’Reilly brings out a chain. Cole brought back in and he lands Last Shot for a nearfall. Thumbtacks poured in the ring, but O’Reilly goes for a guillotine. Triangle choke applied and Cole gets O’Reilly up to drive him into the thumbtacks. Florida Key blocked and O’Reilly with a brainbuster on the tacks. Cross armbreaker applied and O’Reilly lays back into the tacks. Cole with nowhere to go.
