Phil Watson, the son of the legendary Whipper Billy Watson, has been charged by Toronto police in connection with a historical sexual assault investigation.

He was arrested Monday, April 16, 2012, and accused of assaulting a 12-year-old boy between 1980 and 1982.

The 62-year-old Watson, of Bancroft, Ontario, is charged with Indecent Assault Male, and is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, May 29, 2012.

In the press release, Metro Toronto Police say that they believe there may be more victims as “The accused travelled extensively around Ontario for his employment around the time of the alleged offence.”

Watson was active as a professional wrestler from his teens and wrestled throughout the 1980s. He also was a trainer of wrestlers, including a teen-aged circuit.

He wrestled as Whipper Watson Jr. and Phil Watson.
