Throwdown Theatre is “your destination for classic wrestling from the golden era,” where they bring wrestling fans “rare footage, legendary matches, and iconic rivalries from wrestling’s most famous superstars.” Their YouTube page, where the videos are hosted, has been active since the fall of 2018, while their social media presence on Facebook and Instagram is relatively new, but in the past month or so, they’ve really ramped up their efforts to expand and share their wrestling content.
On March 13, 2025, Throwdown Theatre introduced their new set of wrestling trading cards, featuring the Sheik, Bobo Brazil, and Dick the Bruiser.
“But there’s a catch,” the post said, “you won’t find these in stores.” The only way to get ahold of your Throwdown Theatre trading cards was to “track us down at select locations.”
On March 17, 2025, “Supermouth” Dave Drason unveiled the fourth trading card in their series, Pampero Firpo, so the Big Time Wrestling/Detroit connection was strong in this set.
The cool thing about this set, in addition to the retro design and legendary wrestling talent featured, is you can’t just buy it, you have to either find them in announced locations, or you can message Throwdown Theatre on Facebook, and send them a screenshot of you following them on YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram (which is what I did).
Most recently, on April 1, 2025, Throwdown Theatre and Dave Drason announced the fifth card in their series, Terry Funk!
The only way to get this card would be to attend the IBW Southwest Showdown on April 13, 2025, in Southwest Detroit, at Taqueria El Rey, which has, in my humble opinion, the best Mexican food in Detroit.
Tacos, wrestling, and wrestling cards. Sounds like heaven on earth to me!
