Greetings and salutations! It’s Wednesday and you know what that means! It’s time for another episode of AEW Dynamite. On tonight’s show we have appearances by MJF and FTR, as well as Mercedes Mone (c) vs. Anna Jay for the TBS title. We will also see the father/son duo of Nick Wayne & Christian Cage take on HOOK & Katsuyori Shibata. In Continental Classic action we have Will Ospreay vs. Darby Allin, and Shelton Benjamin vs. Beast Mortos. All of this is will be main evented by The Death Riders Jon Moxley, Wheeler Yuta & PAC vs. Orange Cassidy, Hangman Page & Jay White, who so happen to take on Mox at Worlds End later this month. So without further ado, let’s get to the action.

This week’s show kicks off with the arrival shot of Jon Moxley and The Death Riders in the parking lot.

Backstage, Renee Paquette is standing by with Orange Cassidy and Jay White. She asks if they’re more focused on The Death Riders tonight, or each other heading into their world title tilt at AEW Worlds End. White says that Cassidy has said enough so he mentions being focused on the world title. He adds that he doesn’t have the Bang Bang Gang by his side, so he’s got to rely on Orange Cassidy and Hangman Page. Hangman appears and says Moxley is all his tonight.

MJF is shown walking the halls and looking at his phone

TBS Championship Match: Mercedes Moné VS against Anna Jay

Jay gets things started early on but it was Mone who controlled the majority of the match. After a commercial, Jay takes over control of the action and hits a few kicks, with one final one rocking Moné before setting her up for Gory Bomb which Mone breaks the pin on by grabbing the bottom rope. Jay maintains control and locks in a Queenslayer, but Mone bites her way out. Mone then hits a Meteora and a Mone Maker for the win.

Winner and still TBS Champion: Mercedes Moné

We cut to a video from FTR, who talk about the attack from the Death Riders over the weekend. They say that they have not been cleared to wrestle for the rest of the year. They say they will be there on January 1 and they will fight the Death Riders, but they won’t do it alone.

MJF Hannukah Celebration

MJF is out wearing a Hannukah-ish suit. He mocks DC and The Wizards and then talks about the importance of Hannukah. MJF says that Hannukah is all about giving and MJF is feeling philanthropic and as the (fake) tears roll down his cheek he talks about a foundation he’s started. He tells us to think of a child that needs nourishment and food then says what if that child is this bay bay, showing a picture of a very lean-looking Adam Cole. He shows a QR code on the screen to buy the Worlds End pay-per-view (the code linking to PPV.com’s listing for the show, in case you’re wondering) to watch him beat Cole.

Adam Cole appears on the screen and said a meeting with Tony Khan has led to getting a couple guys make sure MJF doesn’t run away, and those guys are Matt Taven and Mike Bennett. Cole then remembers that he has one more thing to say, and Cole appears behind MJDF and attacks him. Max runs away.

We see footage of Julia Hart attacking Jamie Hayter on Collision. We cut backstage where Hayter promises a cold drink of Hayterade at Fight for the Fallen on January 1 to Hart.

We get hype (finally) on Kenny Omega’s return for January 5 at Wrestle Dynasty in Japan. The commentators say they hope to see him back in AEW soon.

HOOK and Katsuyori Shibata VS Christian Cage and Nick Wayne

Cage with a distraction, and Wayne with a roll-up for a nearfall. At ringside HOOK takes out Kip Sabian, but Cage takes out HOOK. Back in the ring, Shibata counters a Wayne’s World into a sleeper hold. Mother Wayne with a distraction and Cage takes out Shibata with a Killswitch and puts Wayne over him for the pin and the win

Chris Jericho talks about being king of the world, and his connection to New York City in a hype video for ROH Final Battle on Friday.

Bandido is set on returning to AEW soon and we get another hype video.

Backstage, Mariah May asks Thunder Rosa why she shifted her career goals from social worker to pro wrestler? May says she has done so much in such a short amount of time and then accepts Thunder’s challenge for Worlds End.

Tony Schiavoni introduces Ricochet and Schiavone brings up him having six points in the AEW Continental Classic then brings up Ricochet’s change of attitude since the last time we saw him. Ricochet says it looked real good on him. The Hurt Syndicate is out. Ricochet says they all look good and MVP asks Ricochet if he still has the business card he gave him. Ricochet goes to pull it out as Lashley snatches him up by the scruff of his neck and coat. MVP tells Ricochet no one likes a kiss-ass or a suck-up.

Continental Classic Blue League Match: Shelton Benjamin (3) VS. The Beast Mortos (0)

La Magistral by Mortos for a nearfall.  Mortos gets to the corner, leaping off the turnbuckle onto Benjamin for another nearfall. Mortos gets Benjamin onto his shoulders, but Benjamin counters. Mortos no sells and Benjamin hits a Thrust kick, followed by three German suplexes. Mortos is hit by a running Knee by Shelton, who hits a second knee strike. Benjamin with a move MVP called The Hurt Fall for the win.

Winner: Shelton Benjamin (6)

After the match, Lashley and MVP head to the ring and the three continue the beating. MVP says this is what we can look forward to on Saturday. Daniel Garcia is out and says that he is outnumbered, but he doesn’t care because he thinks D.C. wants to see a fight tonight. He heads to the ring and is joined by Mark Briscoe. The Hurt Syndicate lay a beating to them quickly though. MVP hands the TNT Championship to Shelton, who stands tall over the faces

Backstage, Ricochet is still confused about the Hurt Syndicate rescinding their offer. He then hypes his match with Will Ospreay for this Saturday’s Collision. Ricochet says he came to AEW to shut the haters up, and he looks to do that when he beats Ospreay. Swerve Strickland shows up and says he knows “the real Trevor” and reminds him that this is Swerve’s house. Ricochet reminds Strickland that he didn’t win the Continental Classic last year….

RJ City has a sit down with Toni Storm. He asks her where she’s been and what’s happened since All In. Storm doesn’t really answer anything playing up the fact that she thinks she was just signed to AEW. Storm hugs RJ to end the segment.

Continental Classic Gold League Match: Will Ospreay (6) VS Darby Allin (3)

Some real back and forthaction and the two make their way to the corner where Ospreay sits Darby on the turnbuckle. Darby fights, but is stopped. Ospreay with a Styles Clash from the apron to the floor and both men are down. Ospreay gets back into the ring as the count reaches nine, and Darby leaps into the ring to save the count out.  Ospreay looking for a Stormbreaker, but Darby counters into a Scorpion Death Drop. Allin now looking for a Coffin Drop from the top rope and hits two for the win over Will Ospreay.

Claudio Castagnoli is in the crowd eyeing Darby Allin ahead of their Continental Classic bout on Collision this weekend.

Jon Moxley, PAC and Wheeler Yuta VS Hangman Page, Orange Cassidy and Jay White

Hangman walks out on his team early in the match. Jay hits a cutthroat suplex on PAC. Moxley eats a DDT from White and Cassidy is in with a DDT and his “dangerous” kicks to Moxley before taking things serious and hitting a running DDT on Moxley. Yuta and PAC try to get into the ring, but are sent back out to ringside hard. Moxley hits Cassidy hard sending him out of the ring and Page comes running back to the ring to get his hands on Moxley as he promised earlier in the show.

Page sets up for a Buckshot Lariat, but Cassidy takes Mox out with an Orange Punch. Page is mad and Yuta and PAC come back in. Page hits a Buckshot Lariat on Yuta and a Blade Runner from White to PAC. White is now yelling at Page as Cassidy looks on, allowing Moxley to sneak in and rollup Cassidy for the win.

Winners: Jon Moxley, PAC and Wheeler Yuta

Cassidy, White, and Page argue some more until the Death Riders surround the ring. White, Page, and Cassidy fight them off until the Death Riders exit via the crowd to end the show.
