The decision may come back to haunt them but NJPW booked Zack Sabre Jr. as the winner of the G1 Climax tournament over mega popular rising star Yota Tsuji. The winner of the G1 Climax tournament earns a shot at the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestle Kingdom. Sabre Jr. taking that spot at Wrestle Kingdom is not a main event that will set the wrestling world on fire and is just another bad decision made by the floundering NJPW. There is still time to change that main event though. Perhaps Tsuji will take that spot after all. It would be a far better angle at least.
Tsuji fell behind early on getting into a wrestling match with the highly technical Sabre Jr. Tsuji would slam Sabre off the top rope for a two count. Sabre weaseled his way out of Deadbolt. He tried to roll up Tsuji but he kicked out. Tsuji turned a Zach Driver into a stunner. Zach didn’t even sell it. Tsuji went for his spear but Zach caught him and eventually made him submit.
ELP was the focus of the next biggest angle at the show. The House of Torture made him an offer than he couldn’t refuse…or could he?
Before their match began Evil handed ELP a House of Torture t-shirt. Jado pulled it out of ELP’s hands but ELP snatched it back. As ELP stared at the shirt the crowd chanted his name. ELP wandered around the arena trying to make up his mind.
With the official taken out Sho nailed Boltin with his wrench. Yujiro smashed Umino with a cane to the throat. Kanemaru clobbered Yano with his whiskey bottle.
ELP stood in the way just as Kanemaru was going to label Tanahashi. He superkicked the bottle out of his hand, threw away the House of Torture shirt and was about to put Kanemaru down when Narita took him out with a shot with a title belt. Sho then threw it to Tanahashi.
When ELP got up he saw Tanahashi holding the belt. Tanahashi dropped the belt just as Evil punched him in the “lower abdomen”. Togo spiked Tanahashi with a Pedigree. Togo hit Tanahashi with a senton from the top rope. Evil rolls up Tanahashi for the pin. ELP looks like he is going to break up the pin but doesn’t.
Evil hands ELP a steel chair as the House of Torture holds The Ace. Jado tries to talk some sense into ELP. ELP almost hits him with the chair. Jado gets the crowd to cheer for ELP.
“Don’t listen to the people!” bellows Evil.
ELP throws the chair out of the ring. He hugs Jado and attacks the House of Torture. The numbers are just too great though. Jado and ELP are held by the House as Narita hefts his push-up bar. ELP leaps into the way and he gets his with the bar not Jado. As ELP gets up Narita whacks him again.
“You are in the trash where you belong!” says Evil as House of Torture left the ring.
