Tonight at WWE Extreme Rules 2019, it is winner takes all as WWE’s power couple of Universal champion Seth Rollins and Raw Women’s Champion “The Man” Becky Lynch put their titles on the line against Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans in an attempt to finish their rivals once and for all. Plus, Kofi Kingston defends the WWE Championship against Samoa Joe! All that and more at WWE Extreme Rules 2019!

No Holds Barred: Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns & The Undertaker

Reigns and McIntyre start off. Reigns sends McIntyre into the corner and lands an uppercut. McIntyre comes back with a belly-to-belly suplex. McMahon in with punches in the corner. Reigns drops McMahon with an uppercut and punches him in the corner. Reigns puts in an arm wrench and brings in Taker. Taker with ripcord shoulder tackles and a leg drop to the arm for a nearfall. McMahon drops Taker before he can go Old School and McMahon with punches. Taker turns it around and lands punches. Clothesline drops McMahon and Old School lands. McIntyre tags in and gets in Taker’s face. They exchange punches and a kick from McIntyre just sits Taker back up. Clothesline outside sees Taker land on his feet and he runs McIntyre into the apron. Apron leg drop from Taker and Reigns back in and a big boot drops McIntyre. Reigns looks for a Superman Punch and McMahon with a distraction from the apron. Reigns lands punches, but McMahon pulls the top rope down on him to send Reigns out to the floor. Taker walks McMahon down outside with a steel chair and walks him up the ramp. McIntyre runs Reigns into the steel steps and works Reigns down as McMahon and Taker make their way back to the ring.

Reigns worked down by McMahon and McIntyre. Neck crank and armlock applied by McIntyre. Reigns turns it around with a Samoan Drop and McIntyre eats the post trying to tackle Reigns in the corner. Taker in on the hot tag against McMahon and he takes it to McMahon and McIntyre. Snake Eyes and a big boot on McMahon and McIntyre knocked off the apron. McMahon sent out and Taker clears an announce table. Elias runs in and lays Taker out with a guitar. Reigns punches Elias, but McIntyre sideswipes Reigns with a Claymore that sends him into the timekeeper’s area. Elias looks to spike Taker with the guitar neck and Taker chokes him. McIntyre with a Claymore to Taker. Taker put on the announce table and McMahon with an elbow drop from the top rope through the table. McMahon lands Coast to Coast with a trashcan inside on Taker, but Reigns hits Elias with a Superman Punch outside. McIntyre hits him with a Russian legsweep outside. McMahon drags Taker to the middle of the ring, but Taker sits up. Chokeslam on McMahon. Chokeslam on Elias. Taker looks to finish it, but McIntyre lurks behind him. Reigns intercepts him with a Spear and sends McMahon to Taker for the Tombstone Piledriver.

They were actually on their way to carrying Undertaker to a good match in 2019, but the booking went crazy on the back half of the match. Still, a legitimate good time that was so much better than expected.

Sarah Schreiber with WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins and WWE Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch and they say they took inspiration from Philadelphia monuments on what to do to Baron Corbin and Lacey Evans, so they have motivation, inspiration, and options. Losing is the only thing that is not an option.

The Usos hip and hop to the ring.

WWE Raw Tag Team Championships: The Revival (c) vs. The Usos

Pinning predicament to start and Dawson isolated, but he gets the tag to Wilder. Double-team kick from The Usos lands on Wilder and sends The Revival to regroup outside. The Usos look for dives in stereo, but The Revival with forearms. The Usos throw Revival out for double dives over the top. The Revival sneak a tag back inside and lead Jey Uso into a clothesline outside. Jimmy Uso tries to come over and the referee separates the two teams. Revival look for a countout and work Jey down inside. Jey fights up and is able to get the tag, but The Revival run a distraction and the referee doesn’t see the tag. The referee holds Jimmy back and The Revival double-team Jey in the corner. Dawson takes Jey up top and Jey lands a headbutt. Dawson falls on the top rope and to the mat. Jey gets down off the top and makes the hot tag to Jimmy against Wilder. Samoan Drops on The Revival and they are dropped in the corners. Hip attack on Dawson, but Wilder with a sit-out powerbomb for a nearfall. Wilder makes the tag to Dawson and they both get in the ring, but Jimmy kicks out of the corner and lands a corkscrew splash off the top to take The Revival out. Jey tags in and a pop-up Samoan Drop gets a nearfall. Dawson knocks Jimmy off the apron and lands strikes on Jey to set up a brainbuster that gets a nearfall.

Wilder tags in and a superplex from Dawson followed by a splash from Wilder that gets a nearfall. Jimmy breaks the pin with a dive and Jey covers Wilder, but Dawson breaks that nearfall as well. Punches exchanged with all four men in the ring, but The Revival dropped with superkicks by Jey. Jimmy tags in and Dawson drags Jey to the outside. Dawson sneaks a tag as Wilder goes for a springboard DDT. This sets up Shatter Machine.

A typical Revival match with classic tag tactics that really picked up the pace for a great finish.

Black looks for black Mass right out of the gate and Cesaro ducks under. Black with kicks and Cesaro with an uppercut. Back suplex looks for the Neutralizer and Black hits a back body drop out. Cesaro lands on his feet and drops to a meditation pose to mock Black. Black sends Cesaro out and lands a moonsault press to knock Cesaro down on the floor. Back inside, Black with a meteora and a head kick for a nearfall. Black lifts Cesaro with his leg, but Cesaro with a forearm and uppercut. Black looks for a springboard and Cesaro chases him to throw him over the top and to the floor. Springboard uppercut from Cesaro lands and a clothesline gets a nearfall on Black. Gutwrench suplex gets another for Cesaro. Cesaro works Black down and a double stomp gets a nearfall. Black fights up with kicks and a springboard moonsault lands to knock Cesaro down. Black with kicks and Cesaro with an uppercut. Black kicks out of the corner and tries a meteora, but Cesaro balances him on his shoulders and pops him up for an uppercut. Nearfalls for Cesaro off the uppercuts. Black lands a backslide for a nearfall and lands roundhouse kicks. Springboard uppercut from Cesaro met by a jumping knee from Black for a nearfall. Cesaro pulls Black into the second rope. Pop-up uppercut stopped as Cesaro favors his leg due to the leg kicks of Black. Black takes Cesaro down and goes for a heel hook. Cesaro rolls to his side and stands up to turn it into a Sharpshooter and then transitions to a crossface. Black punches the legs and rolls Cesaro for a nearfall. A knee from Black puts both down.

Cesaro crawls to Black and Black kicks him away. Cesaro with ground-and-pound and they exchange strikes on the feet. Cesaro with a flurry of uppercuts and he looks for a Neutralizer. Black clubs the leg and lands roundhouse kicks. Head kick lands and rocks Cesaro, setting up Black Mass.

While the crowd took a while to warm up to it, this was an intense back-and-forth brawl.

R-Truth and Carmella hanging wanted posters for the WWE 24/7 Championship and Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross come out of the women’s locker room. R-Truth asks if Hornswoggle is in there. Bliss lies to him and says he is, but Carmella escorts him off. Bliss gives Cross a Twisted Bliss Coffee shirt and NXT Tag Team Champions Street Profits watch from the background. The Street Profits ask if Cross and Bliss are serious about the co-champions deal and Bliss scoffs at them before walking off with Cross.

Bayley slams Alexa Bliss onto Nikki Cross.

Handicap Match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship: Bayley (c) vs. Nikki Cross & Alexa Bliss

Cross starts with Bayley and gets taken down, bringing in Bliss. Bliss with a forearm to the back and Cross brought back. Bayley creates some space, but Cross with a body shot. Bayley drops Cross on the top turnbuckle and lands a sliding clothesline for a nearfall. Cross tags Bliss, but Bayley throws Cross outside and runs her against the apron. Bayley gets caught on the apron and Bliss knocks her off onto the steel steps. Bayley isolated and worked in the corner by Bliss and Cross. Bayley fights up and gets Cross outside, but Cross ties her up in the apron and Bliss with a wrecking ball dropkick to Bayley. Bayley worked in the corner and in the tree of woe, but she gets out and drops Cross off the apron. Bliss up top and she locks in a sleeper from there. Bliss pulls Bayley down by her hair. Stomp and handspring knees get a nearfall on Bayley. Bayley fights up and gets Bliss isolated inside. Stunner on the second rope gets a nearfall. Cross tags in and Bayley slams them on top of each other. Bayley with a double submission in on Bliss and Cross. Bliss gets the rope break and dropkicks Bayley to break the leglock for Cross. Bliss with interference that allows Cross to land a tornado DDT for a nearfall. Twisted Bliss lands on the knees of Bayley and Bliss tags back to Cross. Cross kicked out of the air and Bayley goes up top for an elbow drop.

Rating: 2.5 out of 5 stars

Pretty standard stuff here as Bayley overcame the numbers and cheap offense on the part of Bliss to retain the title. Nothing bad, but run of the mill.

Last Man Standing: Bobby Lashley vs. Braun Strowman

Lashley tries to attack Strowman on the apron, but Strowman pulls him out over the top rope. Lashley crashes to the floor and Strowman bounces him against the barricades. Strowman with corner clotheslines and Lashley rolls outside. Shoulder tackle from Strowman and he runs around ringside for another, but Lashley with a spear. Lashley takes the steel steps to Strowman. Lashley knocks Strowman over the barricade with the steps. Lashley works Strowman up the concourse steps in the crowd and he pulls him into a wall. They go out into the mezzanine area and Lashley runs Strowman into the wall. Strowman struggles back to his feet as Lashley taunts the fans in the halls. Lashley looks for a brainbuster, but Strowman counters and lands a release suplex off a merchandise stand wall that drops Lashley on the floor. They fight back into the crowd. They get back to the floor and Strowman with a running shoulder tackle. Lashley comes back and tackles Strowman through the barricade wall and back to the ringside area. Both able to beat the referee’s count and Lashley with a running tackle that knocks Strowman over the announce table. Lashley turns the table over on Strowman. Strowman crawls out from under it with a second to spare and goes into the crowd. Lashley launches off the barricade, but Strowman throws Lashley into the international announce tables by the crowd. Lashley makes it up with a second left.

Lashley knocks Strowman over and hits him with a trashcan. They exchange strikes and Lashley to his knees. Strowman with a big boot and Lashley challenges Strowman to bring it on. Strowman keeps knocking him down and they go up the stairs. Lashley throws an audience member into Strowman and they fight into a the first row of a section. Strowman takes a chair to Lashley and he gets him up for a powerslam off a platform and through a covered concourse. The referee makes a blind count and Strowman busts through the wood with a few seconds to spare.

Winner: Braun Strowman

This went way too long, but it was fun for the majority of it, even if it didn’t really break any new ground.

Charly Caruso with AJ Styles and The Club. Styles says he didn’t realign with Gallows and Anderson because he lost to Ricochet. Ricochet just happened to be in the way when they started to mow people down. Styles doesn’t want to take anything away from Ricochet other than his WWE United States Championship. Styles says that will be “too sweet.”

The New Day are the new WWE SmackDown Tag Team champions.

Triple Threat for the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championships: Daniel Bryan & Rowan (c) vs. The New Day vs. Heavy Machinery

Bryan starts with Xavier Woods and Woods leapfrogs and ducks. Bryan does the same and Woods with a rolling elbow. Tucker tags himself in against Woods and takes him down for a side headlock. Tucker flips over Woods and lands a shoulder tackle. Rowan tags in and hits a shoulder tackle and splash on Woods. Rowan works him down and Bryan back in with a corner dropkick. Rowan steps on Woods on his way out and Bryan goes to a surfboard. Bryan stomps the knees of Woods into the mat. Rowan back in and he knocks Big E to the outside. Bryan sends E into the steep steps. Woods with an enzuigiri on Rowan and he kicks out of the corner. Woods makes a hot tag to Otis and Otis with shoulder tackles. Spinning slam on Bryan lands and he catches a kick for an exploder suplex. Otis drops Bryan out of the corner and lands a Caterpillar. Slingshot into a side slam from Tucker gets a nearfall. Bryan flips out of a suplex and E tags in with a belly-to-belly on Tucker. Splash lands on the knees of Tucker and Otis back in against E. Otis with a suplex and Tucker with a crossbody on the way down for a nearfall that is broken by Rowan. Rowan with a spin kick and he hits a running crossbody outside. Knee off the apron from Bryan. E clotheslines Rowan as he gets back in and lands a spear through the ropes and to the floor on Bryan. Otis fakes a dive and settles for a splash off the apron and Tucker follows with one off the top.

Back inside, Heavy Machinery hit a Compactor on E and Woods makes the save before the pin. Woods hit with a pop-up slam. Heavy Machinery sandwich Rowan and work him in the corner. Rowan sat up top and Heavy Machinery both on the second rope. E gets under them for the double powerbomb on Heavy Machinery as Rowan holds the top rope. Bryan sneaks a tag to Rowan and drops to the floor as E superplexes Rowan. Bryan jumps to the apron and hits a diving headbutt. LeBell Lock applied on E. E struggles and Bryan holds the other arm to prevent it. E gets to the apron to get Bryan to release with no disqualifications in the match. Bryan with roundhouse kicks and E eats them and hypes up. Bryan starts slapping E and E walks him down. Lariat turns Bryan inside out with a clothesline. Bryan caught flipping out of the corner and E tags in Woods for the Midnight Hour.

Winners by pinfall and NEW WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions: The New Day

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars

The action kept going and going for this one and made for a fun, breakneck triple threat tag.

Kayla Braxton with the new tag team champions The New Day backstage, but Paul Heyman takes the microphone and goes to the stage. Heyman introduces himself and wants to set the record straight. Heyman says he is Philadelphia and he will be damned if he isn’t part of an extreme show in Philly without being part of the history. Heyman says Brock Lesnar will cash in the Money in the Bank contract tonight and he will have the honor and privilege of leaving with WWE or WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at the end of the night. Heyman says they have to figure out if he is telling the truth.

WWE United States Championship: Ricochet (c) vs. AJ Styles (w/The Club)

The Club attack Ricochet before the bell. Styles tackles Ricochet in the corner to start the match. Styles drops Ricochet on the second turnbuckle to stop a Ricochet comeback. Ricochet comes back with corner clothesline and a dropkick that sends Styles out to the floor. Ricochet stops short on a dive to get to the apron and lands a shooting star press off it to knock Styles down on the floor. Anderson and Gallows cause a distraction and Styles drops Ricochet from behind. Ricochet sent into the ring post on his shoulder and Styles works Ricochet down inside. Ricochet fights up, only to get dropped by a back elbow. Ricochet back up with a hurricanrana to corner Styles. Corner tackle and Ricochet kicks the top turnbuckle into Styles. Ricochet with a springboard dive to take out The Club outside. Springboard moonsault gets a nearfall on Styles back inside. Styles elbows out of the corner and tries a moonsault DDT, but Ricochet turns it into a suplex combination for a nearfall. Ricochet springboards and gets caught on the shoulders of Styles for a neckbreaker across the knee. Ricochet gets back to the apron and looks for a tornado DDT, but Styles with a suplex into the turnbuckles for a nearfall.

Styles gets Ricochet up, but Ricochet with a roll for a nearfall. Scorpion Deathdrop from Styles gets a nearfall. Styles drops Ricochet from the apron and looks for a springboard forearm. Ricochet ducks under and Styles hits a wheelbarrow facebuster for a nearfall. Styles looks for a powerbomb and Ricochet with a hurricanrana for a nearfall to counter. Both exchange strikes until Styles lands a Pele Kick. Ricochet with a swinging neckbreaker and Styles with a brainbuster for a nearfall. Styles puts Ricochet up top and punches him. Ricochet knocks Styles down. Styles gets back up and Ricochet bulldogs him on the top rope to snap him down. Ricochet with a springboard shooting star press. Anderson points out Styles has his foot under the ropes and the referee stops his count. Ricochet back up top and Anderson to the apron. Ricochet leaps over him and lands a head kick that sends Anderson inside. The referee checks on him and Gallows drops Ricochet up top. Ricochet hit with a super Styles Clash.

This was good, but not quite great between these two as it felt like the match wasn’t styled to showcase the best the two had to offer. They still did well despite that, but didn’t really kick into gear until the very end.

Charly Caruso with Samoa Joe before the WWE Championship match. Joe says he is here to end the unexceptional reign of Kofi Kingston. Joe will make sure The New Day doesn’t walk away with all the gold.

Kingston dropkicks Joe into the corner and Joe clotheslines Kingston down. Joe with punches and he works Kingston in the corner. Kingston battles out and Joe sweeps the leg. Joe works Kingston down and Kingston finally gets punches on Joe in the corner. Joe tries to fake out Kingston attempting a crossbody, but Kingston lands on his feet to get a dropkick. A suicide dive stopped by a right hand from Joe that gets a nearfall. Joe snaps the fingers of Kingston and puts Kingston’s hand between the steel steps before stomping it down. Joe works Kingston down back inside, but Kingston with a dropkick to create some space and he follows with a crossbody off the top for a nearfall. Kingston runs into a powerslam from Joe for a nearfall. Powerbomb from Joe into the STF. Kingston struggles, but gets his foot on the bottom rope. Joe looks for a clothesline and Kingston with an SOS for a nearfall. Kingston looks for the finish and Joe catches him in the Coquina Clutch. Uranage from Joe and a senton get a nearfall. Kingston kicks Joe away and Joe with a forearm and jab. Kingston sends Joe off the ropes to hit Trouble in Paradise.

Evans starts with Lynch and Lynch knocks her out of the ring as she adjusts her boots. Lynch works Evans down and lands a spinning back kick. Corbin tags in and Rollins in with punches. Blockbuster sends Corbin outside. Corbin brings out a kendo stick, but he misses Rollins with it inside and Rollins back to brawling. Head kick from the apron by Rollins followed by a Sling Blade. Evans tries to hit Rollins with the kendo stick and Rollins catches it. Evans tries to cuddle up to Rollins and Lynch comes in to take it to Evans with the kendo stick. Rollins does the same to Corbin to send them out. Dive and baseball slide land for Rollins and Lynch respectively. Rollins takes Corbin inside for a rolling elbow and Corbin back out. Rollins looks for a suicide dive and Corbin spikes a chair in his face to get a nearfall inside. Corbin works Rollins down with a chair. and sets two chairs back to back. Chokeslam attempt blocked by Rollins and he corners Corbin. Corbin kicks out of the corner and DDTs Rollins on the chair for a nearfall. Corbin goes back to the body of Rollins with the chair. Corbin bounces the face of Rollins on the chair. Corbin slides outside as Rollins tries to send him into the chair wedged in the corner. Rollins with kicks and he sends Corbin into the chair.

Lynch tags in and gets a chair. Lynch takes it to the body of Evans with the chair, despite a chair bouncing off Lynch’s face. Lynch with a bulldog into the chair and an exploder suplex onto the pile of chairs. Lynch with a leg drop onto a pile of chairs on top of Evans for a nearfall. Lynch goes back up top and Corbin saves Evans, but Rollins with a flying knee. Lynch dropkicks a chair in the face of Corbin and he gets taken outside. Evans with a punch from the apron and a slingshot elbow drop gets a nearfall. Evans with a moonsault on Lynch for a nearfall. Woman’s Right misses and Lynch looks for the Dis-arm-her. Evans stacks Lynch for a nearfall and Lynch with a reverse DDT. Rollins tags in, but Corbin is outside. Rollins gets Lynch and they set up tables ringside. Corbin and Evans recover as they set them up and Rollins sent into the timekeeper’s area while Lynch gets sent into the steps. Corbin drops Rollins on the announce table and brings kendo sticks in. Evans and Corbin take the kendo sticks to Rollins in the ring. Double chokeslams for Evans and Corbin get nearfalls. Corbin and Evans look to suplex Rollins and Lynch through the table, but Lynch and Rollins reverse for suplexes on the ramp to put both teams down.

Evans and Corbin put on the tables and Lynch with a leg drop on Evans while Rollins lands a frog splash on Corbin. Rollins takes Corbin inside and looks for the Stomp, but Corbin with Deep Six for a nearfall that is broken by Lynch. Evans comes inside and Lynch sends her out. Corbin hits Lynch with the End of Days and Rollins loses it with kendo stick and chair shots on Corbin. Rollins with three Stomps.

A bit lackluster for the main event. Again, not bad, but the crowd did not care and it didn’t really have anything to bring them into it.

Post-match, Brock Lesnar makes his way to the ring and hits Rollins with German suplexes. Lesnar cashes in.

Overall: There was a lot of fun early for this show, but it all sort got run down with predictably lackluster world title matches and a return to fork with yet another Brock Lesnar world title win. It’s one step forward, two steps back with WWE and that can make a good show bad when they run for five or six hours.
